Was very happy, now sad...
Purchased this light August 31, 2015. I really like the features. High and low flood, really bright spotlight (for its size). This is a perfect light for my needs. I use it every night to walk my dog. It`s now March 3, 2016. Last night the switch stopped working, it lasted 7 months. Don`t advertise that your led`s last 100,000 hours if you`re going to use an inferior switch to work them. It says 100% lifetime guarantee. Anyone know how to make that work?

There are many things I like about this headlamp
There are many things I like about this headlamp: It is lightweight, comfortable, and only requires one AA battery instead of the usual three AAA's. That is awesome. Also, for the price they were asking coming with a lifetime (as long as the company is around) guarantee, it really does seem like a great deal. However, there are some things I discovered about it that made me give it only two stars: The switch mechanism seems faulty. Over time, it got less and less responsive until it didn't work. To their credit, they gave me a new one once they confirmed my order. However, the second one is showing signs of the same issue. Finally, the biggest issue that I discovered: There seems to be a slow drain on the battery when not in use. At first, I thought it was my batteries. Then I did a test: I measured the voltage of two of my charged eneloop batteries, both at 1.38 volts. I left one outside the headlamp, and one in it, AND DID NOT EVER TURN IT ON. Over a period of several weeks, the battery in the headlamp dropped to 1.30 volts (half-charged) while the one outside the headlamp was at 1.37 volts. I did the experiment twice, with similar results.

Nice bright beam but with problems
Nice bright beam with good spacing between outputs and modes. Lots of select-ability here. The beam also has a very nice slightly warm tint which translates into a very natural hue, not the blue or cool white often encountered. I do believe the claimed 140 Lumen output is about right. The battery life is good and the low weight is appreciated as is it's IPX6 water resistance. Now for the knocks: just because the switch gives off an audible and tactile click does not mean the switch will actually do anything. When you press the button you want the switch to work on the first click, not the second or third. The headband is narrow compared to most and the comfort is average. For less than $5 more at the time of this review the Black Diamond Spot is dimmable, has tap control, and also has red LED's for night vision.UPDATE: Item was returned and promptly refunded in full. Since the writing of my review this headlamp has dropped in price probably to compensate for not not belonging at or near the name brand competition price and quality-wise. There are some good things about this headlamp at it's current price point but it looks very much like you will roll the dice in terms of quality control.

Great light - easy to use.
This light works great, there's different settings from a more dim to a brighter light. The only problem I have found, personally, is wearing the light as an intended headband is great for hands free, but I have re-learned that bugs are attracted to light and they swarm your forehead where the light is.I wrap the band around my upper arm now and for dog walking it works great.

Headlamp Drains the Battery
The Tier Gear headlamp was exactly what I was looking for. The day I received it, I installed the batteries and tried it out. Everything worked perfectly. I turned it off and put it away until our next camping and kayaking trip which was about 10 days later. When I went to get it for our trip it did not work. Okay....bad batteries. I installed new batteries and even read the directions to make sure there was not some quick I did not know about. New batteries....worked....for two days....and that was two days of no use. Then dead. Another set of batteries, only tested to see if it worked...same scenario...dead in a couple of days. Obviously the lamp is draining the batteries for whatever reason. I waited too long for my window of opportunity to return this to Amazon so I contacted the company. I did not hear a thing from them and it is 3 weeks later. The instructions that came with the headlamp state that the product has a one year warranty. That is fine if you can figure out how to reach the company. I will probably wait another week to see if I hear anything from Tier Gear otherwise the only thing this headlamp is good for is the garbage can.Update as of September 2, 2015I made a second attempt at contacting the company about the headlamp two weeks ago and still not a word from them. The main description of the headlamp says "100% Lifetime Guarantee". As stated above, the instructions say there is a one year warranty. My question: Who is the lifetime guarantee and the one year warranty with? I will follow up this review if I ever hear from Tier Gear.

durability needs improvement
I really enjoyed this headlamp, however it recently suffered a short tumble to the floor and has stopped working completely. Tried a new battery to no avail. The return window has passed not sure what I can do from here. What a waste of 30 dollars. Less than 2 months of use.

WARNING: These units are defective. Do not buy.
I purchased one of these 5/2015 due to the number of great reviews. This is a really simple light. You put the battery in, turn it on, right? The problem with my first one was that the battery was dead the next day. I put in another battery figuring the included battery was a dud. However, the next day, that battery was ALSO dead! I ordered a replacement light, figuring this was just a bad unit, because hey, that happens. No big deal.I put the included battery in my next unit, tried it, was sure it was turned off. Then I put it on my desk.A few hours later I picked it up and noticed it was warm to the touch. I tried to turn it on, but now the brand new battery is dead again! Therefore, there is a batch of bad lights, and I don't recommend you buy one until it gets sorted out.
