Sentinel FX61B 6-Sheet High Security Cross-Cut Paper/Credit Card Shredder with 2.4 Gallon Waste Basket Shredder Shredder

This is a good little level 3 shredder. I accidentally put 8 sheets in and it slowly chewed right through, but it doesn't crosscut as well when overloaded. I typically put in 2-4 sheets and it shreds nearly perfectly. Sometimes one edge or the other will be to far over and you'll get one long 4mm wide strip, but it's not an issue because there is never anything printed on the extreme edge of the paper. It grinds up credit cards nicely, too. The choppers are solid and look pretty durable. I lubed it before it's first use and after every basket full, as I have done with all my shredders, and I expect that I won't need the extended warranty that I purchased.I probably should have given it 5 stars because it's a REALLY good value and feels quite durable, but I'll stick with 4 stars because 4 sheets is the practical limit of this shredder (and I mostly only feed 2-3 at a time) if you want it to last and get a good, consistent security shred.A note on security: since documents, account numbers, etc, are printed ACROSS the page, NEVER fold a sheet in half and feed it sideways, because even through the strips are pretty short, it might be long enough to get an entire account number, social security number, or other critical information on a single strip. Feed the paper into the shredder the same way you'd feed it into a printer and you'll be good to go.

This shredder works great when you only have occasional things to shred. It handled the 6 six sheets of paper as stated but shreds a little slower when you put that many in at one time. The machine will shred for a while before it over heats. The first batch of papers I shredded (I had papers backing up) did end up over heating the shredder as I didn’t know just how long I could run it. I turned it off and let it cool off and it started working perfectly again. The subsequent times I needed to shred more than a few items I just made sure not to run it too long. The can part holds quite a bit of paper if you make sure to shake the shreds down periodically so that they stay out of the blades way. The top is easy to remove and automatically powers off so that there is no chance a person could get their fingers accidently cut. I also like that it has a large enough window to see how full the can is getting. This is the perfect shredder for home use or for an office with minimal shredding needs.

I like it, I bought it so I can get rid of paperwork that is private to me and important documents I don't really use it much so it is perfect for me I don't need anything more heavy duty than this unit

Great little shredder for someone who doesn't need a "high" volume shredder. We use it for junk mail and private information and it does great. It is quite noisy and needs emptied quickly, but otherwise does the job.

The catch basket is small needing frequent cleaning out. The machine needs cleaning out quite often and the unit heats up quickly even if you are feeding one sheet of material at a time. It is not a time saving device when it comes to using this shedder.

Great for a family use. Overheats to quickly for any sort of serious office use.

This has only lasted me 2 years,,I bought the warranty which just ran out in March,,,,ugh now I have to buy another shredder because this one is constantly over heating after 6 sheets of paper,,,,,

I just had a chance to try it out! It works well....quite powerful, and for the price, I believe I've made the right choice......as long as it keeps on working well! I decided to test it, and pushed it a little. I kept shredding continuously until the basket was filled. I may have taken it too far without emptying the basket. I would suggest to empty the basket as soon as you see it is full. I kept going and the red light came on and the shredder stopped. It needed time to cool down. 20 minutes later, after emptying the basket, I continued without a problem. I believe if I had emptied the basket as soon as it filled up, it would not have overheated as it did. I think it was picking up already shredded paper from the full basket and consequently was starting to jam a little.I will test it again once I have some more papers to shred and see how it works when emptied sooner. It is powerful, and I was pleasantly surprised how well it works. The shredded paper is as advertised, and is quite small.......definitely better than the strip style shredder I was using. Easily 20 times the security compared to the strip shredder. Am quite pleased with the purchase, and as long as it keeps working well, will be quite happy!The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 is the fact that the basket is quite a bit smaller than I thought it would be. Not a real big deal though.....you just have to empty it more often is all. But the way this machine shreds, certainly saves on space compared to my strip shredder...all the shredding is a lot more compact, almost like confetti! Overall.....I'm quite pleased....especially considering the price!!

Don't waste your money - it jams even with single sheets. My unit is brand new, and simply jams after shredding about 10 individual pieces of paper. You will never be able to shred six pieces of paper at once as claimed. The shredder does not seem to drop the shredded paper into the basket and just keeps tumbling with the blades. I cleared the buildup on the blades, reversed it just to make sure it's clear. It took some effort to clean it out. I then shredded another 8-10 sheets and the unit has jammed once again - see pic (the paper feeds very slowly). It's not defective, it's just a bad design - although it does crosscut nicely. I should have bought the Amazon basics one. I hope to send this back ASAP!

I regret this purchase. Even though I only put through one piece of paper at a time, I'm un-jamming the blades every 12 pages. The opening is very thin, so you have to carefully line up your paper. The opening is also 'just' the width of an 8.5" paper, so if you haven't put it in straight, it bunches up at the edge. I would not recommend this product.

Now I can finally shred all of my bills in peace. Or should I say pieces.I wish voicemail had a built in shredder.**Item works wonderfully. Hasn't jammed, and is built well.

It's more than a single sheet at a time... Stops frequently cause it turns very hot. I'm disapointed. But the paperasse is cheaped in small pieces, for sure!
