One of my favorite games of all time
One of my favorite games of all time. I was glad to find it for such a deal. I have already played through most of the campaigns and still I keep coming back for more. I recommend this game for Strategy enthusiasts. I like how you can fight as different fractions, and also rewrite World war II history in the game. The graphics for the time seem to be really great.

Exceeded Expectations!
I honestly didn't think I would find this game complete with original case, booklet, inserts etc with it being nearly 20 years old. Let alone the fact that the game disc is in immaculate condition! Packaging was great and I received it well in advance of the estimated date. This game is a childhood favorite of mine and I cant wait to get her going! I offer my sincere gratitude to Go Media and they will now be my 1st destination for future purchases of the like!

A true underdog WWII classic ...
... This game is arguably the best console WWII turn-based strategy game ever made. It is based on the Japanese game "Advanced Daisenryaku" and translated (with several mistakes) to English by Working Designs. Since the game was made in 1996, the graphics certainly aren't up to par with games of today, but they are certainly adequate and they go a long way in creating a board game feel. Also, if the player wishes to check out a new unit in action, there's an option to view individual attacks in an animated cut scene. Again, this is 1996 we're talking about here, so the animated graphics look a little pixilated and boxy, but overall they're passable and certainly convey the unit designs and models used in WWII.Where the game shines is in its depth. The three campaigns (Germany, Japan, and the United States) feature the best-known critical battles of WWII in chronological order, including some "what-if" scenarios -- such as: an invasion of Great Britain (by Germany, "Operation Sealion"), an invasion of the United States (by Germany, "Operation Firesquall", or Japan, "Assault on America") or an invasion of mainland Japan (by the United States, "Operation Coronet"). Speed in meeting the objectives of the individual battles is essential to unlocking the hypothetical scenarios and conquering the game. Each country's campaign features the unique units of that country, such as Germany's Panzer tanks, Japan's Yamato-class battleships, and the United States' Marine infantry. Each campaign is challenging in its own way:- The player who chooses the German campaign will have their hands full with the British in the early going, and later will be tested severely by the Soviet Union, as well as the Russian weather. If the player passes those tests with flying colors, and eliminates the British and Soviets from the fighting, the next step will be to North America to deal with the U.S.A., and eventually on to conquest of the entire World. If the European opponents are not dealt with quickly, however, they will continue to fight on ... and go on the offensive against Germany. The task for the player will change, from one of attack and conquest to one of defense. The Americans will get into the fighting, as the Allies will execute D-Day, and attack in overwhelming numbers. The challenge to hold off the Allied forces by then will be tremendous.- Choosing the Japanese campaign will present an immediate challenge as the player will have to deal with relentless opposition from the Soviet Union. Once that stage has been cleared, the theater will move to the Pacific Ocean, and the epic battle against the U.S.A. to control those seas will determine the fate of the player's success in the game. As in the German campaign, it is imperative to be as efficient as possible in dealing with the Americans, since the Japanese forces are stronger at the beginning of the campaign. If the United States is given too much time, they will gain the initiative and make life miserable for the player with huge quantities of state-of-the-art units brought to the battlefront.- The American campaign isn't as easy as most might expect. The United States starts out in the War of the Pacific at an extreme disadvantage in both quality and quantity of units, and the player will have to show savvy as well as patience to hold the Japanese onslaught off until the U.S.A. research and development sends more advanced units to the front. If the player is able to turn the tide and gain the initiative against the Japanese, there will be an opportunity to relocate and test skills on the European theater, and help the Allies there reach a decisive triumph against the German empire. Otherwise, the player will continue the war of attrition with the Japanese, and eventually work their way to the Japanese mainland. Expect to face determined and highly trained opposition when facing Japan; even when they are outnumbered, they will give the American units all they can handle.
