It looks even nicer than the picture. I have a mixture of spice bottles and the rectangular Kroger brand spice cans. I can fit up to 7-8 containers on each shelf. If you stack the cans, it could hold about 14 small cans per shelf. I haven't had to do that yet. It comes packaged flat, and then the sides flip out and hook onto the shelf through a hole in the bottom of each shelf. The end result is that there is a little piece of metal which sticks up through the bottom shelf on each side of the shelf, but I don't find this a problem unless you have something which needs to sit in the entire area of the shelf, and it is nice if you need to store it flat for any reason. Each shelf is 5 inches wide and 6 inches deep with 7 inches of shelf space between each shelf. It does come with 4 wall anchors in addition to the hanging screws, but I ended up purchasing some more heavy duty anchors at the hardware store and used those instead.
