Works fine for work applications (spreadsheets, email, etc.) with multiple monitors, But . .
Update: The main reason for a dock like this is multiple monitors, and fewer connections. But, did you know your laptop already supports multiple monitors? If you have one VGA out, you are set for a second monitor. If you have a HDMI and a mini-display-port, as my Lenovo does, you can use three displays right out of the box (laptop screen, HDVI, and mini-data port). Of course I have a mini-display-port to VGA adapter. You can plug in another monitor on the fly to either, or both, of your display ports. I just rebooted my Lenovo, with cables as described, NO DOCK, and plugged my Ethernet straight into the Lenovo. My photo shows the same result, sans dock. So, food for thought. Do you need a dock? If you just want multiple displays, you don't need one. But a dock is more convenient to hook up and unhook, so I am keeping mine. This is a good functional docking station that I set up in my home office to dock both a Lenovo work laptop and my personal HP laptop to several monitors, wired network, keyboard, mouse and webcam. My dock/workstation can use either laptop interchangeably, and extend to two monitors in addition to my laptop screen. I also tried to simultaneously plug a monitor into the mini display port on my Lenovo and that worked fine (it was one of my original two extended monitors, but since it worked, I believe this would support yet another monitor or two (as I have a mini display port on one side and a HDMI on the other). The dock works in conjunction with your display ports, rather than instead of them. I was also able to make it work, wireless, by plugging in a high gain antenna wireless adapter. See photo and you will see that the Ethernet/RJ45 jack at the top is empty. Installation is just put it together and plug everything in, rebooted about twice. Everything worked with zero problems. This has a Displaylink chip, which seems to have become an industry standard. My Lenovo already had DIsplaylink drivers installed. My HP went and found them automatically using Windows update. The only thing I did not like is that to use the stand I had to remove a sticky soft pad to expose holes to mount the stand. I tried to follow the English as a Second Language dropout instructions, and "removed the plastic pad". It was not until after I peeled the sticky mess off that I found that the sticky mess was a removable plate. Not a big deal, I threw the plate and stickum away, because I like the smaller foot print of the vertical mount on a crowded desk USB 3.0 is a big enough pipe to support all functionality, but, specifically I can't say about gaming or video throughput. It does work just as well as my work Lenovo docking station, so I gave up on the idea of buying a more expensive, Lenovo (only) dock for home.

Its almost there, but still great.
So ill keep this short! For the money you cannot beat what you get for it. This product really makes having different platform computers as well as multiple monitors a breeze to connect to. It is as simple as installing the DisplayLink Drivers and you are in business. One major hiccup I had with this product was with the USB3.0 interference to the USB2.0. I have a Logitech Mouse that uses the Unify Dongle; well the mouse would be very laggy and unresponsive to movement or clicks, so I got fed up and started my isolation testing to what it could be; lone and behold it was the USB 3.0 interference to the 2.0 ports. who knew? well if you end up buying this product you will not be disappointed, just keep the Unify Dongle on the farther USB2.0 port from the USB3.0 and you will be good. No other interference shall occur per what Diamond has stated in the corrective measures of this issue. UPDATE: 12/20/17 The product has been great for the time i have had it. A few hiccups with having to power it off and on again, but i feel it is the drivers more than the device. The drivers are universal across many other docks so dont think you are trading up or down with a price tag. If you pair this unit up with a Diamond Display to USB adapter, you can have as many external monitors as you wish... and it all runs great.

Good Dock for Windows 10 Notebook but Poor Stand Assembly/Mounting Instructions
I have not yet tested the DS3900V2 with a monitor but the USB ports work as advertised on my Windows 10 laptop, though the directions for mounting the dock vertically to the stand are only minimally helpful. The overall order of installation: 1) Assemble stand and attach dock (Skip this step if you are not mounting the dock vertically): The stand assembly “manual” does not convey clearly that you have to remove a rectangular plate from the underside of the dock to expose mounting holes. Per the attached photo, press your thumb on the top edge of the plate and push firmly downwards until it slides down and can be removed. I also had to peel off the two lower rubber feet because they prevented the bottom lug from engaging its mounting hole. Now you can engage the mount holes to the lugs on the stand, then push down firmly on the dock until it locks into place. 2) Connect dock to computer USB port. 3) Connect devices to dock. 4) Install drivers: The instructions stated, “To ensure you have the latest DisplayLink Drivers it is recommended to download the drivers from (the provided link to the DisplayLink web site.)” My installation CD had drivers version 8.0 M0 for Windows (and 2.5.1 for Mac OS X), but the website had version 8.1 M0. I stopped the CD install and installed the newer drivers from the website. Notes: My ‘L’ shaped vertical mounting bracket had to be bent slightly until it was 90 degrees. Ignore picture #2 on the ‘Vertical’ stand assembly instructions: the dock should be flipped 180 degrees. I intend to install self-adhesive felt or rubber to the underside of the round base plate to protect the finish of my desk. Both the USB 3.0 and power cords were a little short: with my UPS centered behind my desk, the cords were just long enough to make all my connections. Per the box, the dock is made in China with U.S.-based tech support. Overall this seems like a good dock station for the price (with the caveat that I have not yet tested the video functions), though the stand assembly instructions are sketchy.

I've had these for 4 months and they work great. I have 2 monitors hooked up to the 2 different types of ports. I have to admit that I haven't really focused on picture quality much as I use this computer set up primarily for work that does not involve graphics but I am very happy. The only hitch I had, as some others experienced, was trying to connect a wireless mouse/key board to the unit directly - there would be a lag in movement and they weren't the most responsive. That was when I was using Windows 7 - once I finally upgraded to Windows 10 the problem disappeared. Very easy to set up, including installing drivers - took less than 7 minutes and I was up and running.

Works great. I have 1 laptop with 3 additional monitors connected to it using Diamond adapters. My laptop has 1 HDMI output which I'm using, then I have this Diamond Multimedia Ultra Dock Dual Video USB 3.0/2.0 Universal Docking Station with Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI and DVI Outputs Audio Input and output for Laptop, Ultrabook, Macbook, Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7, XP,Mac OS and Android 5.0 and higher. Display Link Certified, DL- 3900 Chip (DS3900V2) which gives me the 2nd HDMI output and also expansion capabilities, then I have one of these Diamond USB 3.0 to DisplayPort 4K UHD (Ultra-High-Definition) Video Graphics Adapter for Multiple Monitors up to 3840x2160 (DisplayLink DL-5500 Chipset - Supports Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7) plugged into the Diamond Docking Station for the 3rd monitor that only has a DisplayLink input. Because I have the Diamond Docking Station I could add more of the Diamond USB adapters if I had more monitors. See the Diamond Multimedia website for more adapter options and example videos. I've been using this all day every day for a year now with 0 issues. Drivers work great and there's never been any visual problems with frame rate, screen size, etc. I highly recommend the Diamond products. They're very reasonably priced for what they do.

If using a MAC I would not recommend..
If using a MAC I would not recommend ... flaky at best, worked for awhile (meaning ... after booting, and at times not always recognizing second monitor, rebooting etc.) it would work ... this problem did not happen all the time, that's why its flaky, it would not always JUST work when I would plug my MAC in or reboot. Most recently ... just plain stopped recognizing one of my monitors ... for no reason ... turned everything off just to move my desk and stuff around after plugging everything in again .. just would not recognize the monitor connected via HDMI ... maybe it's just my particular item that's faulty, but like I said .. not something I would try again until I see more consistent behaviour etc. Plugging everything directly into MAC was more seamless using adapters etc.

Great tool for a Surface, and DL Teachers!
I have a Surface that I needed to start using daily but it only has 1 USB port and a headphone jack. By adding this awesome tool I have been able to add a Ethernet cable, second monitor with sound, mouse, and printer! It came with an adapter that I needed to plug in the monitor I’m using and everything was up and running in 10 minutes. I saw a teacher using one like this and that encourage my purchase. Great value and still have extra ports if I need to expand.

It works
I actually have had issues with port replicators that didn't do what they claimed, or at least worked on a random basis. This not only worked with multiple USB plugs consistently, it supported two additional video connections, even with DVI->VGA & DVI->HDMI adapters. I haven't seen any issues with sound, video, or USB. It even uses HDMI and audio-jack with full mic & audio without issue. It even uses USB 2 & USB 3 well. And yes, I bought more than one.

Didn't work with USB 2.0
Didn't work with devices having USB ports older than usb3.0, although it was advertised that it will. It's useful with laptops though but not mobiles or tablets

Doesn’t support Mac OS High Sierra. Didn’t know that when I bought it. Works as a glorified USB Hub, but that’s all.

Casi perfecto
