I've been working with bitcoin for a little over a year now, and what has weighed heavily on my mind in recent months has been the security of my investment. I thought that just keeping them offline until needed was really the best option, but I always felt uncomfortable, which kept me from investing further. This book has immediately put my mind at ease.I will say this about this book: it is not an ABC guide to investing in bitcoin. The ebook does give some background, but you'll want this to supplement other guides or research into bitcoin.Pros:- This is extremely easy to read straight through. Its written by someone who clearly wrote it to help others.- Every suggestion is thoroughly explained.- Assuming you have the necessary pieces around your house or office, you can implement almost every technique without spending a penny.- It correctly points out that acquiring bitcoins from reputable dealers is crucial to security.Cons:- I can see this guide being a major hit if it included more info about bitcoin for beginners looking to start investing (though I'm not holding that against the author).I implemented two of the major suggestions from the book in less than two hours. I started today thinking about keeping my bitcoin safe, and now I'm writing this review not even thinking twice that my coins are safe. Very well done!

It seems that the material in this book is out of date -- both Ubuntu and Electrum seem to have changed since the book was written. The book is still useful for the paper wallet scenario, but the instructions relating to electrum and ubuntu didn't work.

The concepts presented in the book are good. It is very disappointing though to see that they are mainly based on FREE information scraped from websites such as "openbitcoinwallet" and "bitcoinpaperwallet" and then re-packaged and affixed a high-per-page price.Sure, Caldwell's BIP 0038 and "old-day hacker" Becker's solutions as well as the ideas and original concepts of Antonopolous do work -- but after the originators gave them away for free, the author's cleverly picking "hot subjects" and "re-using" free content this way feels borderline-plagiatory to me. Every IT professional will agree that there is no such thing as "Total Security" anyway, the title thus appears to be deliberately and overly bold in order to "better sell". And if this weren't enough, Halbert would also like or "appreciate" an additional tip (in Bitcoin, very original). So you would pay an apparent copycat twice, thank you very much!
