Most Excellent Repair Guide
I had a 2000 Corolla for many years putting over 300,00 miles on it with two engines. Being a handy guy and ex-mechanic I determined I would do most of any needed repairs myself. In looking for a repair guide I noticed that the people who wrote these Hayne's guides bought a car and actually tore it down and recorded how to do various repairs. I tell you this to explain why the first thing I did after buying a 2007 Honda was get the Hayne's manual for it.These are well-written in clear plain language. All the illustrations one will need. All the schematics and tables. This manual will cover every repair you are capable of doing. These manuals have enabled me to save a LOT of money doing my own repairs.

Not Terribly Satisfied
I've used Haynes' and Chilton's books for years, but this isn't their best effort. I have a few big complaints.1) A very, very great deal of information is generic automotive data that's probably copied and pasted between all their books, and in a couple of instances, I found some of this generic information that wasn't particularly correct in the case of Civics.2) The book spreads itself across multiple *generations* of Civics and Civic body styles AND tries to tackle CRVs at the same time. It's just spread too thin. It's sometimes difficult to hone in on the data that's appropriate for your vehicle. It doesn't seem to cover Si's at all.3) I hate to disagree with most of the other reviews, but the book doesn't dig very deep. Too many systems explanations give only a cursory overview, 101 level troubleshooting (check the fuses, check the seals), then we're admonished to take the car to a dealer if we still have issues. This is the treatment given for systems as simple as the power locks and emissions. If you're only doing simple tune-up work, and you're maybe after an easy-difficulty repair or two, this book might work. If really want to learn about your car in depth, or you want to make sure you don't get caught short in the middle of a job with insufficient or incomplete information, or if you're going to take on more difficult jobs, you'll want a better book. For about 20 bucks more, you can have the complete factory shop manuals right here on Amazon, and they're on CD so you can search the contents and print what you want before attempting a job. 2006 2007 2008 2009 Honda Civic Shop Manual CD W/Etm Bishko reprints the Honda official manuals on CD, and you'll have the exact information for your particular car. All of it. Enough to tear down the engine and transmission and build it back up to factory specs. And anything else you can imagine.Granted, factory service manuals sometimes assume you have access to tools and equipment you either don't have or can't get at all, but I'd rather read, know, and understand than be told "this is over your head, take it to the dealer". Often times, specialized tools can be improvised, or Internet forum wisdom can help you work around your lack of factory test equipment.Again, the book isn't terrible, I just expect considerable depth in a repair manual, and felt like I got something that was basically a little better than the owner's manual. If that's all you're after, perhaps this book is fine. If not, you have other affordable options.

'Splains it all
Another in a series of fine Haynes manuals and a must for Civic owners even if you're not a shade tree mechanic. Procedures are described in detail and accompanied by photos and diagrams. If your auto shop says you need a brake job and it's $800, look at the procedures and maybe you'll either do it yourself or see why you're willing to pay someone else to do it. Also includes troubleshooting tips, periodic maintenance chores anyone can & should do, 'check engine' trouble code maladies and remedies, etc.Note to other DIY'ers: No manual is a panacea. Use this (or any) manual in conjunction with YouTube, Google, Chilton manuals and your friendly parts desk guy/gal's advice. Just don't lend your Haynes manual to a friend and expect to get it back soon. It's a great reference tool.

It can't tell you everything but gets you in the ballpark
It was a little short on details...probably would be nice to have a book for each model and year. It's kind of general and generic, but if you've worked on cars most of your life it will get you close enough for most of the basic stuff and with some additional info from online and at auto parts stores and your uncle Bob, you can get the job done...

Very helpful
I bought this manual when the repairs from an auto-shop started to be more expensive than the worth of my car. I figured if I can start repairing some stuff myself, I could save hundreds of dollars. I am by no means mechanically inclined...I havent taken any classes relating to motors or mechanics. This book has helped me save literally thousands of dollars by me doing repairs myself. The only problem I have is that some of the steps require you to have some understanding of mechanical jargon. Luckily a quick search on Google usually explains what a word or process means and I'm on my way. If this book had a glossary of terms it would be better. If you have an older car where repairs by a professional would not be cost effective, I would trust a Haynes manual to help you fix it.

No longer necessary
I have this book a good rating because these books are great if you do any type of maintenance on your car, even basic routine stuff. That said, if you have an Internet connection you can find pretty much any of info in this book with a basic Google search. This is especially true for Hondas because there are so many forums and video tutorials for civics. So in short, if you want or need a paper copy, this is a good one. If you can click a mouse, save your money.

It’s all good practical info.
It’s a good Haynes manual, with the same fault as the rest.It try’s to generalize across to many variations and sometimes leaves you high and dry.

a very useful manual for my car
As expected, a very useful manual for my car. I've been learning to do my own maintenance on the car and this is must have if you want to do your own. However, as someone who lived in the UK where hardcover, colour copies were available, I do wish they were as widely available here.

It's an OK manual. Paper quality has declined yet ...
It's an OK manual. Paper quality has declined yet again as it is printed on overly thin, low-fiber count, recycled paper. Also, the manual continues to be written and formatted as manuals were written in the "dark ages" of printing... Colour photosof what you're looking at would be a welcome addition to the manuals.

Must have for car owners!
If you're not under warranty any more and you hate going to a garage, then you NEED this book! It has fixes for everything you can imagine, with clear advice and pictures (although I'll admit the photos are sometimes a bit hard to see). All-in-all, a great book that will save you hundreds, if not thousands, in the long run!
