I have used this wine opener countless times and can each case gave great results. The quality in both materials and construction is very good too. As such have given this wine opener as gifts and the recipients have thanked me every time. Wile E. Coyote approved. I've got just about every bottle opener ever made, and the foil cutter on this one is the easiest to use in the industry. I also love the effectiveness of the screw itself; it has a "grooved" worm, which is to say the screw has a groove down the length of it, so it doesn't split the cork. Like the best bottle openers, this one has a two-step pry lever so you can start the pull and end it with good leverage that makes it easy to remove the cork without cracking it inside the bottle. This is an Italian made bottle opener that was such a hit on my Camino [de Santiago] trip with a Swiss compatriot who basically stole it every chance they could get. Once we got to Santiago, I gave it to them, and so I had to buy another one after I got home, but it's hard to find in stores nowadays, so I had to get it here, on A-zon. The only other bottle opener I like in this price range, is the American made (NOT Chinese imitation) Pulltap, and while I like the feel of the Pulltap in my hand better, and it folds down tighter, this one weighs a tad less (better for town-to-town backpacking, or picnics) and the foil cutter is better. I like both. I use both, as well as some shmancier ones that I keep at home. But for on the go, you either want this one, or the Pulltap. And for the Camino, this would be the one to bring.

This is my favorite "waiter's" corkscrew. It's sooooo easy to use. The two-step method means that the cork is going to come out without a lot of effort. It's hard to screw up opening a bottle of wine when you have this corkscrew. It's my go-to to have on hand at the bar. It's durable, sturdy, and practically designed. I keep one of these in the glove compartment so that I always have one when I need it! You never know when you are going to have an impromptu opening of a bottle of wine! It's a good one to take on wine-tasting picnics. It travels well -- and nobody will screw up opening a bottle of wine with this one, because it's just that dang easy to use. I often give these to people -- I can't believe how many homes I go to where they either don't have a decent wine opener (even though they plan to serve wine) or they have trouble using their only icky one, so I end up bringing and leaving this one, which saves the day. I always have a couple of extras at home on hand for this reason, because I end up giving them to people. It's comfortable to hold and easy to use. The foil cutter is functional and easy to use. Everything is easy. I love the Boomerang.

Are you kidding me? I love this thing! I understand that getting all wound up about a corkscrew may seem a bit unbalanced but this thing single handedly healed an emotional trauma in my life. A few months back while trying to board a plane to Boston the soulless minions of our beloved TSA took a break from strip searching elderly women in wheelchairs for hidden explosive devices and seized my beloved longtime travel companion, the corkscrew I bought years ago in Key West. The agent dug it out of my carry on and, holding it aloft in triumph as if he had found a loaded Glock 19, proclaimed it to be a "prohibited item" due to the miniature blade which you use to cut the metal seal. (He then icily offered to let me go back to the airline counter and put it in my checked bag, as if a) there was any chance I could get them to go fetch the thing from the ramp and b) I was interested in getting back in the half hour line at the TSA counter. He knew it. I knew it. And my favorite corkscrew knew it too, I'm certain.) Anyway, off it went to wherever they send the things they steal from our bags, along with a hundred memories. A very sad day which cast a pall on the whole trip. But then I found this little item and the fog of despair began to dissipate. There's no little blade, just a clever little set of wheels which snip off the top of the seal quicker than you can say officious imbecilic government employee. As for the rest, well, sometimes it's good just to move on. It works splendidly in all aspects of its intended functions and I look forward to many happy bottles.

The foil cutter is so easy, the corkscrew itself works smoothly, and the whole thing fits in my hand naturally. It is sturdily made of quality materials. I have had a problem catching the metal lever-opener on bottle lips. I thought it too small, then I noticed the lever adjusts. It is still a bit clumsy for me but I will eventually get the hang of it. The construction is hearty enough that I was able to just wiggle and yank the cork out but that is not my preferred method! After a long day I don't want to wrestle with my wine, I want it to succumb to my wishes. My friend bought one of these in Germany a few years ago, so I was looking for it specifically. I knew the cutter and the well made screw were worth the occasional hassle. By the way, hers is deep burgundy but because some of the reviews stated the colored ones were cheap, I went with black. I did not want to risk a knock-off and I hate hassling with returns. Besides, I don't want to be matchy-matchy.

Easiest wine opener ever!

I work as a bartender in an Italian restaurant. I open about 50 bottles a day and with this baby, I’m opening those bottles ( foil and cork) within 10 seconds. The foil cutter holds up well and stays sharp for at least 6 months of high volume use. Don’t be scared of this amazing sidekick, it’s a bit of a learning curve with the foil cutter, but with some practice you can be as fast as me

Good and strong. Love the two step puller and built in cutter is what drew me to chose this.

Eventually, you can get an easy-working corkscrew that comes with a neat foil cutter. The price is much too high, though, as you can get the thing in Europe for about 30% of the Amazon price -

This design and rigidity is what I like, have purchased previously and that one is still functional after three years
