The Maglite is such a well made light that it was hard to see it just sitting in the drawer because the light output wasn't up to today's standard. This bulb is a good and cheap way to bring my Mag back to a usable state. I like that it's only 350 lumens because the draw-down on the batteries is less but the light output is more than adequate for general use. There's a race, in the industry, to get as many lumens out of a light as possible but the trade-off is battery life. Most high lumen flashlights are too bright for general use so this is a perfect way to revitalize my Mag.

My 3 D cell Maglites [I have 2] always had a yellow tint.This bulb is far brighter, has a white round light and the light reaches farther than it ever did before. It is also brighter with lithium 1.52 volt and NiCad rechargeable 1.2 volt as well as alkaline 1.5 volt.I recently bought rechargeable lithium batteries because I wanted the full 1.5 volts vs the NiCad 1.2. Lithium is the current rage, right? That was an unnecessary purchase so far as brightness goes. . I tested all three battery types and all work well enough so it is hard to tell the difference. I also think that this led bulb will fit any flashlight that has the same ring on the bulb. i.e I have an old Kel light and the stock Maglite bulb is interchangeable. You do the math.I did NOT receive the clear lens but the bulb was 2 bucks cheaper than advertised. I figure we are even on that.We shall see how long this bulb lasts.Oh yeah. One negative. I had to reinstall my lithium batteries in my Maglite several times but I doubt it had anything to do with the bulb.

The brightness is very voltage dependent. At 3V, looks like a low end ~120 lumen replacement bulb. However at the rated 9V it's extremely bright. Nice focused beam. Good bright white color.

the included collar is slightly longer than the original, this may have caused others to report loose fitting LED, can be easily fixed by filling down the length ~ 1/32" with a metal file, to make it a little shorter than the original, after that it fits and works great

I used it in a 2 D-cell maglite. Easy to install. Did not need collar. Extremely bright while light w/bluish tint. It is priced double that of other bulbs, but is well worth if you want a brighter light. I did try it in a couple non-maglite flashlights and it did not work. The base is not correct right dimensions and it does not make a good connection.

Replacement LEDs made a huge difference for the Mag Lites. Mag Lites sat around for years unused because the OEM bulbs were not bright enough. Decided to upgrade them to make them more useful.

I expected this LED insert to work fine, but I did not expect that the substitute LED would be about as bright in my 3 C cell Maglite incandescent flashlight as the 3 C Maglites which are available now with factory LEDs. The result was so extraordinary, and the substitution process was so easily completed, that it is really hard to understand how anyone would not be thrilled. Based on the specs I presume there will also be a dramatic increase in battery life, but the main thing you will notice is how much brighter the LED is than the incandescent bulb that it replaces. I recommend that you avoid looking right into the light unless you don't mind if your vision is impaired for several minutes afterward.
