The BEST of the BEST!!!
The product is high quality and the instructions are easy to follow. However, the customer service is TOP NOTCH. I was in a pinch and placed a frantic phone call at 7 am on a Saturday hoping to leave a message. What I go instead was a live person who immediately set my mind at ease and provided me be BEST service I could ask for. I needed the Spirulina culture immediately and since I live in So Cal, I was able to drive to Carlsbad to pick up what I needed. Upon showing up, I was greeted with a smile and a handshake and I felt reassured that I would be take care of. Mr. Huber took the time to talk with me about the Spirulina and since I took my youngest son with me, he had my son do a hands-on experiment (which my son loved). Mr. Huber also had his children out and my son had a great time playing with them.Folks, if you buy from this company, you will get ALL of your money's worth and then some. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED is Algae Research Supply (in my best Yoda voice).

I don't know what is in this, my spirulina is not growing at a normal rate let alone a rapid rate
I have looked up the recipe for the mineral composition needed by spirulina on line and I am going to buy the individual ingredients and mix my own. Since I don't know what is in this mix and what is not... I don't know what else is needed to add to the mix to get my spirulina going. I would suggest you also look up the recipe and buy the individual minerals and items for the mix and mix your own batch.

Customer service is excellent. Very simple instructions to follow
I purchased this after successfully growing the Algae Culture Kit: Spirulina. Customer service is excellent. Very simple instructions to follow. I used distilled water to decrease the likelihood of contamination or nutrient abundance. After a little over two weeks since transferring the smaller culture, my five gallon culture is ready to be turned into a ten gallon culture!

It didn't work, so I ask:
Dear Matthew,I have recently purchased a 5 gallon kit for producing spirulina.Since I could not understand the manual clearly, I decided to divide it into 2 batches. It has been a week since I mixed my first batch and I believe it has failed. I am going to explain to you what I did so maybe you can help me be successful in the 2nd batch.1. Dissolve the saltsI have dissolved 1/3 of the salts (well mixed) into 1.6 gallon of pure chlorine-free water, in a clean container. The water turned white, so I waited 24 hours until it turned clear again and poured it carefully into another clean glass container.2. I've added 1/3 of the culture nutrients in the container and then added 3/5 of the algae culture inoculum.3. I did not have an air pump, so I used a submerse pump to keep the water stirring. I kept the mixture in a fresh dark place for 48h, uncovered4. I placed the container near the lamp and let the lamp and the pump on in 12h cycles.nothing has happen. What should I do differently next time?Thank you!

BE CAREFUL - I TOTALLY FEEL RIPPED OFF! I
BE CAREFUL - I TOTALLY FEEL RIPPED OFF! I Paid nearly $20 There was no Spirulina Culture in this. Regardless the media did not do the job to prepare a 5 gallon tank - I had to use my own salt and nutrients - complete waste and I was so disappointed. This company should know better - I cant believe the reviews on here not one person made any mention - they obviously were not reviewing this product.

Matt at Algae Research Supply is amazingly knowledgeable and helpful ...
Matt at Algae Research Supply is amazingly knowledgeable and helpful. This is a small start-up business created by a science teacher who also has experience in commercial applications of algae. Matt remotely helped my collaborators and me create an art installation for an exhibition in Minneapolis in which we raised three types (and colors) of algae. I don't know where we would be without his phone support. Thanks again!

Great Instructions\Easy to setup
This was much easier to setup and start growing than I expected. The instructions were very clear and the spirulina was very healthy. I was not able to start for a couple days but the spirulina quickly doubled and then tripled in the growing medium.
