The "must-have" Sherlock series book
SHERLOCK: High-functioning sociopath, remember, John? I don't do 'please' and 'thank you' and all those ... slow bits."JOHN: Sociopath, I get. Still waiting for 'high-functioning.'That's one of the best lines in the entire Sherlock BBC series, yet it never made it to the screen, and we have it only because of this book, "Sherlock: Chronicles." It was from a deleted scene in "The Reichenbach Fall:"This isn't like some of the other Sherlock fan-books written by outsiders. Author Steve Tribe is practically part of the Sherlock team, and Mark Gatiss (who plays Mycroft and is co-creator of the series) wrote the foreword to this book. So you know the information is accurate and spot-on.It's a sturdy, glossy book that sits out on a table in my media room, beneath the TV, for easy reference. After reading it the first time, I binge-watched the entire first three seasons again and noticed so many more little secrets that were revealed by this book.Seeing selected pages from scripts in the book prompted me to watch the series with subtitles, since the writing is so compelling and the dialogue sometimes rushes by so fast you miss a lot. And seeing pages from deleted scenes is a treat. It's a fun and fabulous book, heavy on photos and graphic design. It reads like a printed version of the special features you find on Blu-ray versions of the BBC series, yet offering new and fresh material. The cover says it's "the ultimate behind-the-scenes look at the making of the hits series Sherlock," and it is all that, since Tribe has access to all the insiders. It could have been twice as long and I might have enjoyed it twice as much. The only real downside with "Sherlock: Chronicles" is that it was released before Season 4, but I wouldn't be surprised if the publisher offers an updated version soon.

'Sherlock' Chronicles is a Rollercoaster of a ride for Series Fans...
Almost as exciting as the actual series itself...this book from the very first page grabs the reader's attention and never lets go. It is visually stunning, with glossy photo images of key scenes from the series, with in-depth behind-the-scenes background information on the writing, plots, location settings, character-development analysis with details on costume/hair/make-up selection based on individual character profiles, and lots of interviews with not only the actors, writers, producers and directors, but also with key members of the creative development staff. A thrilling ride through the series that is fun, vibrant, kinetic, and an absolute joy for both devoted fans of the series and a wonderful introduction for newcomers.

Not readable on a Kindle
I can't read this book on my kindle. It looks really good but it displays as two pages side by side and the print is microscopic. Even when I zoom in, it is small. I don't think I will even try to read this. It is not going to be relaxing and I have the feeling I was cheated. I have lots of books to read. I'm going to dump this one as a technological failure and move on. Too bad. No refunds I suppose.

A must for any Sherlockian!
This book is awesome!!! I am a huge Sherlock nerd, and I was really excited to see this, and I'm very pleased with my order. My order came very quickly and the product is wonderful. The pictures are really clear and nicely done. I loved reading about the comparisons between Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's books and the television show, and I loved reading about the concept behind the show. A really fun part of the book was John and Mary's "Wedding Album", (from the Sign of Three episode) which was fun to look through. The book is a lot heavier than I expected, probably because they used a really nice heavy paper for the pages, which makes the photographs crystal clear. Now if only Sherlock Season 4 would come out as quickly as this book was delivered to my house I would be a very happy camper! :D

Delightful Memories of the Making of the Sherlock Series
In-depth behind the scenes and history of how the Sherlock series came into being, with loads of high quality pictures from the set and behind the scenes. The write ups and interviews are outstanding, and I say that having read quite a lot of the articles with interviews of cast and creators all along. This book is beautifully constructed and makes a wonderful keepsake for staunch admirers of the show and those involved with its making, giving respectful nods to other Sherlock Holmes creators and fans. Great Book On Sherlock Series
Great book covering the 3 series of BBC Sherlock so far. Covers how series came about, story progression, location shoots, cast interviews, script details (with some deleted scenes), etc. Great photos. Much better than the Sherlock Files book covering the series.

Entertaining
The book is heavy with photos, like a year book. The text is in the style of interview, with additional narrative, and includes samples of original stories and corresponding modern scripts. Very entertaining for fans of the show.

Sherlock Chronicles, a fun read about a marvelous show
I haven't made it through the entire book yet, but am very much enjoying the MANY photos and blow-by-blow account of how this remarkable show came to fruition. I've been a Sherlock Holmes aficionado for more than 45 years. I recall hearing about this modernized version of my beloved characters in late 2008. I was positive I'd hate it. I always believed Holmes and Watson belonged firmly in Victorian/Edwardian eras. I never liked the updated versions with Basil Rathbone (although I admired the actor's work and he did truly look like Sidney Paget's Holmes). The definitive Holmes of my era was Jeremy Brett in the 80s and 90s Granada series. I didn't believe any other actor could rival Brett in my head or heart. Then I watched Benedict Cumberbatch take the role--and the world--by storm. He's marvelous. And Martin Freeman's John Watson is the absolute best (and I'm a girl who adored Edward Hardwicke's Watson, who more than held his own against the flamboyant Brett)! Well, Freeman and Cumberbatch are just amazing--their chemistry sizzled right from the start. What a brilliant bit of casting! Even when storylines fail a bit, the camaraderie between Cumberbatch and Freeman keeps me hooked and is sufficient to carry through. "Sherlock Chronicles" takes us through Series/Season Three.

Just brilliant
Not only for Sherlock addicts, but also for Holmes academics and media buffs. Handsomely produced, full of facts and information, deleted scenes from the TV series, straight comparisons between screenplays and original Conan Doyle texts. Lots of background information, thought processes, plans and production problems and decisions. Great to read through and then to keep dipping back into. Well written and NOT a cheap fandom getting-onto-the-bandwagon thing but a proper book doing a proper job. Intelligent, accurate, revelatory and remarkably good value. If you only buy one book about the TV series phenomenon, then it should be this.

The BEST book on BBC's "Sherlock" and well worth waiting for!
This is an essential purchase for any fan of BBC's "Sherlock". Sure, a little of the information will not be new, some of the introductory stuff seemingly gleaned from various interviews with the cast and crew which can be found on the DVD/Bluray sets. But, there is a wealth of new material here and it's such a handsome package, filled to the brim with great behind the scenes images, script excerpts and e-mail fragments. This is the book every serious "Sherlock" fan has been waiting for, streets ahead of "Sherlock: The Casebook" or the various unofficial publications that tell you nothing new. Buy this one now!

If you're a Sherlock fan, you'll want a copy ...
If you're a Sherlock fan, you'll want a copy of Sherlock Chronicles. This details the complete production of Sherlock, from the historic background of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's creation of the character, to works produced on stage and screen that all formed the idea that become our beloved television series. It then breaks down sequentially into a chapter by chapter, episode by episode look at the production of the series. Each chapter includes interviews with key players; from an actor's thoughts , a director's approach to their episode, and the work that goes into the production design, costume design, hair and make-up application, practical and visual effects, music scoring, editing and graphic design in an episode.

This is a fantastic companion to BBC's "Sherlock
This is a fantastic companion to BBC's "Sherlock," one I've been waiting a long time for. The wait was worth it. Yes, there are lots of fun pictures of the creators, cast, and crew, but the book also provides great insight into the making of this excellent show and even includes snippets of deleted scenes. I highly recommend this for fans of the show.
