A Great Size Riding Mower! Fun!
I have had this mower since the end of April. I purchased this mower from BrandNewEngines, in Iowa, and their service was top-notch, ordered on Saturday and it arrived on Wednesday. Well crated and in good condition. It's been used quite a bit since then and I'd like to share my first impressions. This is a just-right sized mower for my lot, I don't need a big zero-turn mower, in fact it was not too bad mowing with a walk behind machine. But this is a delight because it cuts the mowing time down so much. And, its small size means that I can ride between my trees easily, important for me as we have trees that are too close for a big mower to get between. The Snapper steers easily, and the shift-on-the-fly works well. It shifts into reverse and mows backwards well, again, very nimble. The visibility is good, very easy to see exactly where you are in relation to things you are trying to mow close to. The Snapper is easy to start, the oil change hose is a great feature, so easy to drain the oil. As the literature mentions, this mower comes with a stand bolted onto the back which you can use to store the mower in a vertical position, this does take up much less space in the garage. Cleaning underneath the mower deck or changing the blade is easy with the mower in the vertical position too. Keep in mind that to tilt the mower on end you need two people. True. When you do this be sure to take the brake off and put the shift in neutral so the mower can rotate around the rear wheels.I have a slope in my back yard which I thought might be difficult for a riding mower but was very pleasantly surprised as the Snapper climbed up the slope like a red billy goat! The controls are simple. Once the mower is moving, speed 1, it's easy to move the lever up, or down, to change speeds, to slow down around a tree or corner, and to speed up on the straightaways. It is fun to ride. The procedure for engaging the blade for mowing is a bit awkward the first few times out but becomes second nature soon enough. Changing the mowing height is straghtforward, easy to do.It does a great job cutting, the lawn looks like a carpet when I finish. Mulches grass very well, better than my Honda walk-behind mower. We'll see how this mower works and see how it holds up, the real proof is in the seasons you put on it.If you are looking for a fun riding mower, that isn't huge, this one may be for you.

Very pleased
Ordered from BrandNewEngines in Iowa on Saturday and arrived in Georgia on Thursday via Estes Freight line. Arrived crated and driver wheeled into garage on a pallet jack. Driver very nice. After uncrated - totally checked. Everything already greased. Only had to connect the battery cables and add fuel. Started right up. Well made, can be stood up on its rear for compact storage, quite fast just in the first gear. Has so much power that it could mow thru a hay field. The only thing that was tricky to learn at first was the new safety feature and how to use the bypass to mow in reverse. All new mowers have this safety feature in a variety of ways and now come with a bypass. What I like about the classic mower is that they are user friendly when it comes to maintenance. Hose/spout to drain oil. Can stand on rear for compact storage or blade change/sharpen. Everything is easily accessible and only 1 belt. Chops up clippings very fine.

This machine is a piece of junk
I bought this riding mower because my arthritic knees were being punished when cutting my entire yard with my walk-behind mower...plus I liked the mulching option. While the mower does mulch grass well, in my opinion it has no other redeeming qualities. To put it mildly, this mower isn't worth two cents let alone $1700+. 1. The cutting deck is narrower than the wheel spacing, which makes it nearly impossible to cut close to objects, plus the center of the mower deck is slightly behind the operator's eye and its edge is obscured by the mower body, requiring the operator to lean over quite far - an unsafe situation - to view the area being cut. 2. The controls are located similarly (i.e. well below and behind the operator's eye) requiring the operator to take his or her eyes off the intended path to make any adjustments to power, speed or, God-forbid, to shift into reverse, which all but dislocates a shoulder. 3. The weight distribution makes turning a joke; the engine is in the rear along with the majority of the operator's body weight, so if you are running at all but the lowest of speeds, the mower simply plows ahead rather than changing direction - and that's if you can actually manage to turn the steering wheel. 4. Maybe being a teamster might help in that area, but for mere mortals it takes two hands and a lot of hard tugging. The only time you can steer with one-hand is when you are on a paved surface, and then only if the turn is slight. (I can only imagine how much harder turning the wheel would be if more weight had been put up front.) 5. The mower doesn't have enough power to get out of its own way, let alone climb even the slightest slope. And forget about mowing with a modest sideways lean; you'd topple over. In fact, cutting in a circle makes the mower lean over to the extent that you get a noticeable, uneven cut. 6. It does not make the job go more quickly. It used to take me one hour and fifteen minutes to trim my entire lawn with a 20-inch wide walk-behind, mulching mower. Using this riding mower (with a 28-inch wide cutting deck) takes me the same amount of time, as I need to make large, P-shaped turns to mow in alternating rows...because, as explained earlier, the steering sucks and shifting into reverse very often is not a realistic option.Had I known ahead of time about even one of these problems, I would never have purchased this mower. It is so far from what was advertised.

It is as advertised and its is just like the snappers from 20 yrs ago....
Cannot cut in reverse but thats not important. It had plenty power and maneuverability. Sturdy built out of metal and not plastic. Good quality adjustable seat....only problem was the trucking company ( Estes) set up an appointed time during day . Then dropped it off with NO NOTICE NIGHT BEFORE AT 8:30PM AT FRONT OF DRIVEWAY.NO KNOCK ON DOOR AND STUFFED TICKET IN MAIL BOX UNSIGNED.AFTER CHECKING SECURITY CAMS WE NOTICED CRATE AT 10PM....GLAD I CHECKED.

Great mower!
We had a twin blade riding mower and were disappointed because of the strip it left, requiring going over the same area twice. What a waste of time!! This mower doesn't leave that strip. It's a little rough as far as the riding part, but it does a great job and turns very quickly. The fact that you can fold it up for storage and cleaning is a big plus!
