4 Pack Wood Carving Spoon Blank Basswood Unfinished Wooden Craft Whittling Kit for Whittler Starter Kids

Bought these carving blanks for my husband. The photos show his first attempts at spoon carving. I am delighted with th results! He actually watched several YouTube videos and has carved three spoons. He likes the basswood as it is quite easy to carve and softer than other woods. He is very happy with the outcome as well.

This spoon blank is great for a beginner whitteler/ carver. The wood is soft and easy to carve. I was able toHold the blank with out difficulty. Having the blank shaped as the spoon gave me the general idea of how I needed to carve the bowl . Plus the price was really good for the package of 2 blanks

One of the blanks I received had a large split in the middle of the spoon end. Carved it anyway, but this one is completely useless. Wish someone had checked these before shipping because it was easy to see from the outside.The wood was soft and fun to carve for a beginner. Would have been better if they were quality checked before shipping.

I have not carved the walnut or cherry, but the basswood splits on the littlest of knife pulls. There are quite a few knots in the blank. I’d use these for beginners to get a feel for carving, but I wouldn’t buy the basswood expecting to keep any useable item.

Excellent product for teaching children knife safety while also making it fun for them to learn and appreciate the lessons being given. The wood is soft enough for easy carving and the kids are proud of their finished product.

These are well cut from good wood. I would have preferred the handle portions to be bigger in size to leave more room for experimenting with handle design. But then, they are for beginners.

Many prepared blanks are too shallow and can only serve as stirring or mixing spoons. These can be carved almost to ladle size. Deep, sufficiently wide and shaped well to leave sufficient space to personalize the handle. Wood was clear cherry, straight grain and cut beautifully so no wood is lost cleaning up bad cutting from manufacturer

The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is because these blanks could be just a *little* but bigger, but other than that no complaints. These blanks make it very easy to whittle away to make the spoons of your dreams.
