Practical, helpful, approachable, and approved by my MBCT therapist! I have taken my time reading it and trying some of the exercises included and plan on returning to it periodically.

Too bland
Great for beginners. However, this book is too basic and I was hoping to get more from it than what I already know.

An easy read
This was easy to follow. It is not a sit down and read to the end type of book. It takes days because between each chapter is a time for you to practice what you have learned. I love it.

A Great Introduction to Mindfulness
This book was a gift from a very dear friend. I didn't know much about the practice of Mindfulness and found the book very interesting. Just like the title reads, Mindfulness: A Practical Guide, the book does just that. It guides the reader through the Mindfulness process. It explains the different techniques, tells how to practice them, gives the reader space to journal their thoughts about their experience, and inserts testimony from people who have practiced the different exercises and their take-away from it.I came away having learned something new and will use some of what I learned throughout each day.

A great intro to mindfulness
This was an intro for me into the world of mindfulness. I appreciated it’s pace, it’s explanations and the case studies it includes to offer readers idea of what mindfulness looks like.

Less stressed and rushed, more focused, calm and enjoying the little things in life!
This is a readable, enjoyable, uplifting, and most importantly, practical book. You can put its ideas into practice immediately. I have felt happier, less rushed, more centred and less distracted since using this book, which I refer to almost every day.It starts by takes you through very simple practices such as eating mindfully, and mindful breathing, then gradually works up to more in-depth practices. It has a mix of freqent, little practices which bring you back to the present moment to enjoy what you are doing right here and now, and more formal practices which could be called "meditation" - but it's much more down to earth than you might think. For example, one of the most useful practices I have found is the "pause button" in which you choose an everyday trigger (I use the sound of anyone's mobile phone receiving a text - perfect for the office), and use this as your reminder to pause, assess your own mental, emotional and physical state, take a few mindful breaths, and then either re-focus, or take a break. Sounds complicated but can take as little as 30 seconds, and is an absolute godsend sprinkled throughout the day. There are also more "formal" mindfulness practices which you set aside a few minutes for each day - could be anything from a couple of minutes to 20, depending on your own circumstances. This is where you bring your attention just to, say, your breathing. It is easy to do yet the experience is different each time - sometimes it's easy to focus, sometimes not - yet it is always valuable and really helps smooth your day along and clear your mind out periodically. You don't have to try to "empty your mind", or be devoid of emotion or any of those stereotypes we might associate with meditation.I felt it has "given me permission" and retrained me to uni-task - to do one thing at a time, and also to slow down enough to do everything at its proper pace and time. I actually seem to get more done - or at least with more ease and less fuss because I'm not constantly switching between email, facebook, working, texting, eating and so on.I had previously completed the 4 week "be mindful online" course, of which Tessa Watt is one of the presenters, and wanted a follow up to this that I could keep with me. This little book fits the bill perfectly.I believe this would also be a very useful book for a total beginner, with no prior experience of mindfulness.

This simple and easy to read book has lots of excellent suggestions for mindfulness exercises, so if one doesn't appeal to you there's bound to be lots that do, if you give them a try.
