Medium weight cotton, a little heavier and a little higher than the same socks in acrylic.
I have always loved the Gold Toe line of socks, but this is the first time trying this specific product, and I thought the product description lacked some important details that I can share. These are medium-weight all-cotton socks. They fit a range of sizes, and they rise a little higher than most calf-height socks on me. Compared to the same Gold Toe socks in acrylic, they are a little bulkier and a little higher, but comfortable.

Conflicting Reviews - My Purchase from May 27, 2014
I have read reviews (both negative and positive). Decided to purchase the socks anyway to compare as I have also worn these Gold Toe Fluffies since the 1980's: 1. These socks are different than my previous purchase. I note that one reviewer indicated the socks made a lot of lint that would remain on the bottom of his feet after removing the socks. In past purchases i had the same problem. I would track sock fuzz all over the place, even after repeated wearings. But not with this recent purchase...no fuzz...thankfully. 2. While i don't know the construct of the other reviewers who said the sock cuts off circulation to their legs, or does not stay up / in place. i have had neither of these problems and never have, with Gold Toe socks. I wear a size 13 shoe so I'm not a small guy. If I were an overweight person, there probably would be some credo to the circulation comment but at just over 200 pounds, I do not have any tight fit issues on my legs. 3. I do note that the current Fluffies are not of the same construct, however one reviewer indicated that he can 'see through the sock'. I cannot and once again i'm not a small guy...see comment above. These socks do appear to be constructed/designed a bit more toward a dress sock look rather than a casual sock look. Comfortable in my casual shoes/boots and look darn good with my dress shoes. The socks i purchased through Amazon (slightly less than dept stores in price and free delivery) I am very pleased with. I don't have the same problems as others who have reviewed. And I *definitely* do not miss all that sock fuzz I used to have. For me, this purchase is two thumbs up...slightly different sock, with some improvements.

Are you sure these are Goldtoe fluffiest!
These are not the Goldtoe Fluffies I remember. They are not as soft and not as thick. They are also higher on the leg than I remember. They do appear to be genuine Goldtoe so I’m confident they’ll meet Goldtoe’s excellent quality. I plan on visiting a Goldtoe store to verify my suspicions.

Great Fit, Quality, and Value! My favorite socks for over 20 years!
I have been using Gold Toe socks for over 20 years. I stocked up at an outlet store about 5 years ago, and had not needed to buy any since then. I was concerned at some of the reviews I read indicating a reduction in quality of Gold Toe's manufacturing. But I love the fit of their extended sizes socks and my experience had always been great. So I ordered a three pack to replace some of my socks that were wearing out after 5+ years of use. So far, they are great. Same great fit and comfort, worn and laundered 3 times, and no noticeable change. If Gold Toe had a temporary drop in quality, they must have corrected it. I know the regular sizes are supposed to be one size fits all up to size 12 shoes. But I recommend the "Extended Sizes" for size 11 or larger. They fit me great! I won't buy any other sock for regular daily use.

The whole cotton fluffies experience has become iffy
In the latest installment of the cotton Fluffies drama, I received 3 black and 3 brown pairs as requested but there was a small disappointment with each package. The black pairs came labeled "75% cotton" though the product description currently says 86%. The brown pairs came labeled "81% cotton" - maybe that's what the product description said when I purchased them - but they are knee socks - OK I can live with that though it's kind of annoying. Unfortunately there's no substitute for someone who wants reasonably thick but basically cotton socks, not synthetic. Land's End has some mostly cotton socks that are thicker than most other brands but don't have as much cushion as these do, and are more expensive. Below is an earlier review I wrote on one set I received that was mislabeled as cotton. It was probably just a regular but non-cotton Fluffie version. There's half the problem right there - Gold Toe makes both cotton and non-cotton versions - sometimes I see the acrylic fluffies in stores. I haven't seen the cotton ones in stores in years. ...... No way. I've been wearing Gold Toe cotton Fluffies most days of my life since the 1980s. I just got the black sized 6 - 12 1/2 with the black cardboard label saying Heritage Collection. There's a white sticker on the back that says Cotton Fluffie 3 Pr Now the white label says, 81% cotton18% nylon 1% spandex. The product page says 86% cotton but I figure it is what it is so I open the plastic bag. It does not look like a Fluffy and it doesn't feel like one either. It's way stretchier, and the lines running up and down the sock are different, they're narrower. I could be mistaken but these seem like a lot of socks I can get at the store. I specifically wanted the kind I've been wearing for a while. I think there are acrylic fluffies that I never buy, maybe these are them. That's just a guess. Back they go.

Perfect socks for me
I wear size 14 shoes. Regular size men's socks are for 6 to 12 size, they wear out really fast at the heal because I have to pull them up so tight so often and they are always slipping down so a bunch of heal sock is under instead of behind my heal. These extended size socks solve that problem perfectly. These Cotton Fluffies are a bit heaver overall material than the regular fluffies (in extended size too) and I like that. I think these cotton ones shed less black lint than the regular fluffies too. An I think they are a bit more durable from wearing out in the heal. They feel great. I will buy lots more of these.

FLUFFIES????
The last adjective I would use to describe these socks is "fluffy". They are coarse and used pretty small even though these are supposedly "extended" size. About ten years ago I bought about a dozen pair of Gold Toe socks that only now are wearing out. They are soft, very comfortable and feel like they have at least 50% Cotten in them. With holes forming in the heels my wife prompted me to order more. I BELIEVE they were either called "Manhattan" or "Metropolitan" but since I wasn't sure i ordered a pack of each. Nope....it was neither..at least not the "Manhattan" or "Metropolitan" that I had. These had too much acrylic/Lycra/spandex or whatever makes a sock feel like a silk eel when it's on your foot. So I wrote Gold Toe. They suggested I send them a sock but the person who could identify it was in another state. ( aside...hey sock makers especially gold toe...would it kill our profit margin to imprint an ID # or some identification ON THE SOCK as to what style sock it is so re-ordering is easier?) okay..so I laundered a pair of my dwindling socks to Gold Toe...one to I believe the Midwest and the other down south. Both concluded my sock was a "fluffy" but..um..now they are made in China. So i bought Regular fluffies...I couldn't get my 13eee foot into them.....forget "comfort". So I ordered and received the extended size two weeks ago.....rough and tight....I thought they'd loosen up in the wash, they didnt. I wrote Gold Toe exasperated and was told....supposedly in 2014 that they were going back to the "old style" fluffy....whatever that is......I guess those plans fell through....disgusted.

This Listing for single 3 pair pack is better product than listing for multiple 3-pair packs
This Listing for a single 3 pair pack is for a much better product than similar listing for multiple packs (two packs, three packs and four packs). You can see the difference in my photo. Both pairs were purchased in Fall 2018. Pair on left purchased in 2 pack of 6 pairs. They have shrunk and faded. I think they're made in China . Pair on the right from single three pair pack. It retains its color and shape. Note Stitching half-inch from the top, marking difference between single pack listing and multiple pack listing. They're made in Mexico. Single packs cost more per pair than multiple packs but it's worth the extra cost for the better quality. They're more comfortable and launder better.

Excellent produit !
