So easy to install
So easy to install. I removed the old pump (about 50 years old, also a wayne) and installed this in under two hours. I had to replace the old cast iron sump outflow pipes with some new PVC, all found at Home Depot. I also installed a check valve, not present on the original installation and now the sump is DRY for the first time since the Beatles last played Shay Stadium. A great bargain and a real good product.

Solid Sump Pump
I bought this to replace an old pump in a house I recently bought. I bought this and a check valve as the pump needs to lift the water about 10 feet. What you get in the box is just the pump, so you need to buy separately the hardware to connect this to an existing pipe. It appears to be solidly built and did not feel cheap. Installation took about 10 minutes, max.Its been in place for 2 weeks and appears to be working well. I've been quite pleased at how quiet is compared to the old pump. After being surprised by the failure of the original pump (it was very old) I have added a flood alarm to the sump so that if this one fails at some point I have some way of being notified.

Extremely disappointed
Just returned this SPV500 pump - failed out of the box. Tested it in 10 gal shopvac tank before installing. Good thing, because it did not discharge any water. Contacted Wayne, we went through their "standard" phone tech trouble shooting questions and had nothing to offer other than they were very sorry it didn't work. They would be willing to "work with me" on "fixing" it, but I couldn't trust this manufacturer. They do not "wet" test before shipping and they stated the they could not have installed the imperllor in backwards. Where does one find a dependable sump pump? I would pay twice the amount for a guarateed preformance pump, but Wayne makes all the "box" store pumps (re-tagged names), so choices are limited. Suggestions anyone?

Not the quality they once were
I bought 2 of these to replace 2 very, very old Wayne pumps in my basement that still worked. Mine lasted 7 years which is well beyond the warranty period, but one failed in such a ridiculous way I just had to share. The pipe that holds the motor to the base rusted completely through and then the pump could not spin, but the motor did, and it wrapped up the cord until it got stuck. I would expect the switch to fail. I would expect the motor to eventually wear out. Maybe the impeller could break. But this is just bad quality. I'll be replacing these again with a different brand that uses a stainless steel shaft. 2 stars because the motor, switch, and impeller are still good.

Works like a gem and is very quiet too
We just suffered through tornadoes, 10 inches of rain and this is the first pump to be able to keep our basement dry. Works like a gem and is very quiet too!

Excellent
Fast shipping and a wonderful product, I couldn't have asked for better service. It was very easy to assemble and for the price I did not expect the quality to be so good.

Failed within 24 hours
This Chinese-made piece of crap failed on the fourth test after installation. It was tested with clean water and on the fourth try, the motor seized and failed. The product was installed in accordance with all instructions, including the "optional" check valve. The lift was only four feet, but the pump can't even handle that load. Wayne used to make solid products, apparently not any more. Do not buy this pump!!
