Awesome ice cream maker, but read for advice
Bought my 9year old this for Christmas, and it works great. Does take awhile but is actually fun to do together with him.The good- ice cream tastes greatEasy to useWorks greatAdorable kit.The bad- slowIce cream doesn’t get super thickMy son grabbed the bowl out of the freezer and without thinking put his fingers in the bowl to carry it, and his fingers got stuck and peeled a layer of skin of 4 finger. (He’s ok) but was a learning experience.Advice after using a few times- don’t touch the inside metal when fully frozen.Allow bowl to deep freeze for at least 12 hoursMake ice cream mix and the refrigerate it for a couple hours to ensure mix is very cold prior to adding to ice cream machine- allows ice cream to get slightly less runny. All in all great buy and great product.

ours didn't work
My original ice cream maker gets one star. But my overall satisfaction is 5 stars. I ordered this product for my daughter in law's bday. We followed all directions but did not get ice cream, just cold liquid. So we backtracked and did it over, making extra sure all directions were followed perfectly. Slightly better, but a milkshake at best. I called customer service and the agent was extremely nice and offered to replace this item with another pick from the website. Since my daughter in law wanted to make her own ice cream, we tried again with the deluxe version, hoping for better results. And yes, we finally got the ice cream that was promised. The former reviews for the ice cream maker were all good, so I think I just got a "dud". It happens. The customer service was outstanding though and gave us no hassle...just replaced the product with our choice and everyone is happy!

Wastes Product
Nice machine. Good instruction and easy to understand. Used ice cream maker and followed directions. I do not like that you lose product because it is stuck to the side and bottom of the freezing container. The paddle needs to be flexible on the end and gently touch and scrape the sides of the container, so your product isn't frozen there. You cannot scrape it off because the contain stays frozen for a long time.

Glorified popsicle maker not good for making ice cream
This is a very cute, petite ice cream maker. However it does not make ice cream. After mixing the solution and starting the machine it ran for a very long time but the solution never thickened. I even set the ice cream maker inside a bowl of ice to allow longer freeze time during the mixing process. It’s a glorified popsicle maker. I lost one of the popsicle sticks so I couldn’t return it.

Okay - not great finished product
Very simple to use and good size for 1-2 people. However, frozen bowl unfreezes too soon and doesn’t get the chilled liquid very solid (like a slurpee at most, not “soft serve” or ice cream), I’ve had to finish it by putting it in the freezer, but then the consistency is hard and frozen.Still a nice alternative for frozen desserts when you need to use specific ingredients (vegan, non dairy b/c of allergies etc)

Amazing purchase!! So happy!!
Due to COVID, my husband and myself have not been able to go to Thrifty’s for ice cream. I figured buying this would be ideal since we often have lots of ingredients for ice cream already. So my first batch was not the best - it didn’t get creamy. I attempted to make some dairy free ice cream which tastes good but after freezing it, it was too hard. I also did not let my sugar dissolve so it messed with the texture.BUT My second attempt was perfect! My tip is to let the bowl truly freeze overnight or longer. Make your mix and put it in the fridge for an hour or freezer for about 20/30 minutes.I made a vanilla ice cream - heavy cream(dairy alternative), sugar, almond milk, vanilla extract. Nice and creamy. I also made this same mixture with dairy products. Both were good!I also made a chocolate ice cream, same ingredients as above plus unsweetened cocoa powder. There’s a book that has recipes also. I even froze peanut butter “globs” and added them to my chocolate ice cream.

Protein ice cream
The media could not be loaded. My first try making ice cream it failed miserably. I packed it up and was ready to ship it back. It never froze. My husband said try again. I put the base back to freeze. Made a second batch. Eh it sorta froze. Put it back to freeze. Third time I tried it worked so well it was done in 5 min!!! So, to summarize when you get it let it freeze for a few days first. Second make sure triple sure your ingredients are super cold but liquid when you add them in. I also froze my fruits to add as it was mixing. That was the trick! I’m keeping mine and saying the first two tries were user error.
