NICE BOOK LAYS FLAT
Just realize that this version in Vol. 2 has page turns while you are playing so anticipate the page turn and you'll be okay. Other publications are more careful to eliminate the page turns. I only found this in the Vol. 2. No page turns in Vol 1. Crisp enough printing.

Best chorale book available!!!
This is by far the best edition of bach chorales I've ever found! This edition comes with a ring comb binding making it very easy to stay open and read. Every other edition of bach chorales I've owned have been a nightmare to read out of. In this edition the print is large, wide and bold and it stays open on the piano. Bach chorales are highly essential in becoming an effective sight reader as well as improving technique. Reading even 20 minutes a day out of this book will improve a pianist faster then anything else will. This book is a MUST HAVE for any person serious about piano. I HIGHLY RECOMEND any pianist struggling with sight reading to buy this ASAP.

Seeing without Eye Strain
Nicely printed, and I can actually see the notes without eye strain. No, the notes are not super huge, but just right. 14-point, maybe? Perhaps it is the dark ink used. Probably could read this in low light. Comb binding is the icing on the cake. And of course, you can't go wrong with Kalmus editions.

Kalmus Editions are Highly Regarded
I purchased both Volume One and Volume Two. I was unaware that Vol.2 was for Piano, and Volume One,for either Piano or Organ. Not a problem! Alles ist Gut!Noteworthy features: Simple plastic binding is not a problem. Landscape layout is easy to set up. The pages are easy to turn; the paper feels like 24#, so you know that you won't be tearing a sheet, in case you have to make a quick page turn! The contrast between white sheet and black ink is wonderfully crisp and clear, esp. for poorly-lit music racks...or Heaven forbid...aging eyes!Very happy with this unexpected "find"!

Large notes, cheap binding
Comfortably large notes, but also somewhat messy. The binding is cheap and pages often get stuck in it when flipping pages. But all in all a good, affordable edition of the chorales.

Excellent, affordable edition
The headline pretty much says it all. The comb binding works fine if your gentle with it. The music printing is large enough to be easily readable, my only complaint is a few noteheads (lit. a few in the whole book of tens of thousands of notes) didn't print very clearly (still readable and easily fixed with a pen or marker). One thing that would be nice is having the chorales keyed to the liturgical event they were used for, but that would add pages (and cost) and is easily found with a search engine. All in all a great purchase I'm very happy with. Don't miss the first volume, too.
