The place were you put in the disk will not latch. I can see what the problem is, there is tiny black plastic tab that is supposed to catch and latch it closed, but it breaks off. I could hear it rattling around inside the thing as I was opening the box. Same problem on all three. Others have reported the same issue. Pretty serious defect. Too bad, it would've been a fun toy. *(It's fun to see how many people appreciate my reviews. If you found this review to be informative and/or helpful, please click "Helpful" to let me know. Thanks!)* Review: Don't waste your money - Considering this was over $100, I thought it would be a good gift for my son who is in college taking astronomy classes. We were disappointed and when he found out I paid more than $20 he told me it was junk and to send it back. I really does nothing more than a projector with a wheel that rotates on the ceiling. Don't waste your money. It was supposed to be his big Christmas gift and it was a big disappointment. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B00CIJ8N8M | | Age Range Description | Kid | | Brand Name | Scientifics Direct | | Color | Clear | | Customer Reviews | 1.7 out of 5 stars 7 Reviews | | Global Trade Identification Number | 04893669380929 | | Item Weight | 2.5 pounds | | Manufacturer | EASTCOLIGHT (HONG KONG) LIMITED | | Manufacturer Part Number | 38092 | | Material Type | Plastic | | Model Number | 38092 | | Operation Mode | Automatic | | Power Source | battery-powered | | UPC | 647341276772 | | Unit Count | 1 Count | ## Images ![Advanced AstroEye Planetarium | LED Light Projector | Rotating Star Map of the Northern Hemisphere | Constellation Education - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71DcKnPbhiL.jpg) ![Advanced AstroEye Planetarium | LED Light Projector | Rotating Star Map of the Northern Hemisphere | Constellation Education - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71tjQPw8xrL.jpg) ![Advanced AstroEye Planetarium | LED Light Projector | Rotating Star Map of the Northern Hemisphere | Constellation Education - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81kghCEDyDL.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐ Many units have same flaw, don't buy *by C***C on June 19, 2019* So, between myself and a friend of mine we have purchased three of these, and ALL THREE have had the same problem. Thanks!)* ### ⭐ Don't waste your money *by K***Y on February 21, 2018* Considering this was over $100, I thought it would be a good gift for my son who is in college taking astronomy classes. We were disappointed and when he found out I paid more than $20 he told me it was junk and to send it back. I really does nothing more than a projector with a wheel that rotates on the ceiling. Don't waste your money. It was supposed to be his big Christmas gift and it was a big disappointment. ### ⭐ Cheap plastic and battery operated *by R***L on June 25, 2023* For over $100 I would have expected at least a plug. Also the date feature is just an aesthetic since there is no way to properly align the disk to a date. It does produce a star field/constellations depending on which disk you’re using. But there is no way to verify the accuracy of the image. Definitely not worth the price of admission. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.be/products/123702544-advanced-astroeye-planetarium-led-light-projector-rotating-star-map-northern](https://www.desertcart.be/products/123702544-advanced-astroeye-planetarium-led-light-projector-rotating-star-map-northern) --- *Product available on Desertcart Belgium* *Store origin: BE* *Last updated: 2026-10-16*
