Thompson Chain Reference Bible-NIV ( indexed)

This Topical chain reference bible is the BEST investment I ever made in my walk with God. I bought mine back in 1994 when I became a Christian and I am buying two more today for a friend and my son who is coming to the age where he will be needing more "meat" this Bible is not only the inspired word of God but it contains the tools we need in order to look up subjects and find scriptures. quick and easy right on hand when you need them. It is a top rate reference bible - if you have this - you really could make it the rest of your christian walk with no other reference. Basically it's not ment to give you someone elses point of view, but only to help you FIND the scriptures you need in your daily life. If you're dealing with parenting issues - you look up the subject of parenting or family in the reference part and it will give you the SCRIPTURES that pertain to this subject. You then can read Gods word about this subject - not someones oppinion. Or if you have a friend who would like to know more about baptism - you could look up baptism in the refernce and it will give you SCRIPTURES about this subject that you can look up. IT's GREAT!I can't speak highly enough about The Thompson Chain Reference Bible - As I stated above - it was and IS the best investment I have ever made in my christian life. It has made studying the Bible not only possible - but EASY. I am so greatful for it.

The Thompson Chain Reference Bible is an excellent edition of the Bible. There are numerous study helps, but they let the Bible speak for itself. Often times biblical commentary is biased and tells more about the translators and their opinions than explaining the meaning of passages; this is not a problem in this edition. Moreover, the physical quality is also excellent. The leather feels soft but durable, the binding is solid and I have had no problems with loose pages or anything of the sort. The index tabs stay firmly in place. In addition, the book includes a ribbon marker to keep place. I own many study Bibles and many different Bible translations and I would rate this among the best.

I love the Study Bible. In fact I've owned many and continue to buy them on the internet! (I'm a Pastor)The only problem with this purchase, is, they didn't specifically tell me it was "purple" my "son" loved everything but the color!(It was a birthday present) He didn't want to return it because it was such a great buy!Again, I highly recommend the Thompson Chain Reference Bible, for anyone interested in a "non-biased" study Bible! The description says "leather bound," but this is the BONDED LEATHER version, not Genuine Leather version.Check your ISBNs carefully if you want the genuine leather; you can see all the various versions and ISBNs at the Thompson website: http://www.thompsonbible.net/

The book is packed with great information but I am disappointed in the thin pages and small print. I don't believe that this bible is leather bound; there is no musty or leather smell at all to it. The Bible was rec'd wrapped in plastic and if this were leather it should have some type of leather smell. I feel this bible was too much money for a bible that doesn't appear to be leather bound and pages so thin. This bible is packed with wonderful information and to keep it this size I understand the thin pages but I will have to be very careful with this bible to make it last. The bible has a huge archaeological supplement and I know I will enjoy using it.

If you want a study Bible that has not been influenced by any denomination, then this is it. I have used it for many decades. The chain references is a great help in study throughout topics in the OT and NT. I have the other versions, but wanted the 1984 NIV. I did NOT want the so called new NIV. As far as I know BB Kirkbride does not use the new NIV yet. I located their website and they plainly stated that none of their Bibles in NIV were the 2011 NIV new. So, I don't know if these are the last of their kind for BB Kirkbride. Some study Bibles are going to the ESV. I have an ESV and like it, but not as much as the NIV 84 translation. This is one great Bible reference system IF one just wants the Word to meditate and come up with their own conclusion with the help of the Holy Spirit. Translations are in KJV, NKJV, NASB, and NIV 84.

Right off the bat, I give this FIVE stars for being the Holy Bible. Having a Bible which comes with tabs built in is a big plus. The way the chain reference is set up makes it easy to follow, lets you study the Bible in a way that best suits your needs and your style. I'm not one for reading chapter upon chapter of the Bible, more like a verse or several, and it's nice to see how a topic carries through the Old Testament into the New Testament, or just how a particular topic follows in the New Testament.On to the four star review. The price is a bit expensive but then I find most, if not all, Study Bibles are expensive. That said, a good Study Bible should pay for itself. The cover is leather but it could be just a little thicker and more supple. The pages are very thin, again, I find this in most Study Bibles. To me a Study Bible is for more than just reading. A Study Bible begs to be experienced, highlighted, marked, notes in the margin, reference notes in the front and back, the pages are so thin that I am afraid to highlight and take notes in the margin. A Study Bible not only needs to look good but be durable, suitable for private study, group study, and taking to church, or just having a Bible with you at all times, for that matter.The Thompson Chain Reference Bible-NIV (indexed) is a great and usable concept but it's just too delicate for the sandbox. I'm going to keep mine on the shelf, bringing it out as I need it.

Always loved my KJV Thompson Chain Reference Bible, but now it is even better with the NIV version. I am so happy it has been updated and I love that it is indexed with cutout tabs!

The Thompson Chain Reference Bible is the ultimate in study Bibles. The topical references facilitate closer study of various topics, the historical naratives help to set the scene of the text and the thousands of other topical references aid continued study. In this particular edition the text is very clear and thus easily read and the red letter sayings of Christ help the reader isolate those passages spoken by Jesus Christ. An extremely worthwhile companion for the staute Bible student.

A classic Study Bible and easy to navigate

Soft cover makes it easy to flick through, but feels lovely. Clear print, and I love the handy size, so much easier to handle.
