Xenolinguistics: Psychedelics, Language, and the Evolution of Consciousness Paperback – Illustrated, January 6, 2015

WOW! What an Incredible book. From a linguist (myself) who never heard of this unique field, until stumbling upon the author's website, I was thoroughly intrigued. In fact, I had never learned, read, nor been taught about this subject previously. From an academic standpoint, this book is groundbreaking, in the essence of pure, thorough, original research. Aside from that, the topic (which unfortunately is viewed as a "taboo" subject within the field of our linguistics academia) and the way Dr. Slattery composes the material is beyond my comprehension. It flows smoothly, and would allow even the casual reader/researcher to comprehend the basics of "contact with the other" and language from a fascinating perspective. A+ would recommend to anyone who's even remotely interested in linguistics and/or psychedelics/the brain.

Strange, very well written. Psychedelic in the original T. Leary sense, mind-expanding. Carefully skirts the woo, but puts forth some very original ideas about the mind and its depths. My LSD and ibogaine.experience was in the early sixties, proper set and setting, no bad trips, still remember them.

Brilliant explanation for an experience that defies description. Ms. Slattery shares her intimate, first person account of the psychelic experience and, in doing so, provides a map for others to follow their own sacred path to knowing what's really happening beyond the veil.

A fascinating deep dive into the possible building blocks of language. I’m impressed with the through research. Bought 3 copies! Well done!

This is a very unique and interesting read. I highly recommend it to everyone. It's an intriguing exploration of consciousness and psychology and I am pleased to have read this.
