If directions are read and followed, I promise, it's going to work unless you've dulled your scissors beyond all hope. I left a cheap pair in the kitchen for him to try cutting things. They got super dull, super fast. Today, I decided to try this shear sharpener on them and I wasn't expecting a whole lot. To my surprise, they are sharp again - but you have to read and follow directions. It's not like a knife sharpener, where you put the blade perfectly vertical. You have to angle the scissor blade so it lies flat against the sharpener- or it's not going to work and, will more than likely ruin your scissors, if done incorrectly. I'm happy with my purchase and am glad that I won't have to keep buying new scissors as often.

**Q: Is there a trick to using the tool?  It had the opposite effect on my scissors, but maybe I'm using it wrong.**
A: It actually had the opposite effect on my scissors, too.   I ruined three pair of scissors.  I have the AccuSharp tool for sharpening knives and that works really well, though.

**Q: Are there replacement blades for the scissor, shear sharpener ?**
A: Yes replacement blades are available. However I use me sharpener quite extensively, and hasn't changed blades yet. Also the blades themselves can be reversed when dull. Thus givin' you essentially a new set of blades

**Q: Will it sharpen pinking sewing scissors**
A: Some scissors are only to be sharpened by equipment you buy from the manufacturer.  Check before you try it out!  P[nking scissors do not have flat edges (which are necessary with the aforementioned sharpener.  Best get it done professionally - especially if yours are "top of the line" scissors.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not for Wusthof kitchen scissors

Kitchen scissors like these old Wusthof scissors have a 60 degree angle on the blade as opposed to 45 degrees on common safety scissors, and the design blocks the sharpening stone from contacting the blade. It can’t be adjusted; the plastic frame prevents it from going to the correct angle. These worked OK on other scissors, but check before you buy them for similar scissors. I was able to make progress with Sharpal’s garden shears sharpener, though. And the company’s customer service was outstanding—they helped me understand this issue and recommended a better product for the job.
