A WALK THROUGH THE JUNGLE
Despite the title, this book is not merely a list of facts, but a comprehensive view of the Amazon RainForest and the life within it. I knew that this rainforest was the largest on earth, but I did not realize that this rainforest receives a whopping 52% of the daily precipitation for South America containing 2/3 of the world's fresh water supply and 20% of the world's oxygen. The animals inhabiting this world are diverse and bizarre. Most of us are familiar with tropical birds like the macaw and toucan and monkeys like the squirrel monkey and marmoset. Some of the unusual animals include the sloth who sleep fifteen to eighteen hours a day and the nocturnal maned wolf that is often called a red fox on stilts. Poison dart frogs can be as small as a paper clip, but their poison excreted through their skin is powerful enough to kill a human. Capybaras are the world's largest rodents, who are friendly to humans. On the other hand, the piranhas living in the river eat their prey alive. Be on the lookout for the anaconda, the largest most powerful snake on earth. Living in the water, these hunters catch their prey with their fangs and drag them under water to drown it before they swallow it alive.Animal selections are written well even if they are succinct. Pertinent information on diet, habitat and lifestyle is presented. Questions follow the descriptions for discussion. The photos are clear and appealing, I would recommend this book to anyone with an interest in learning about this intriguing region. Great choice for elementary and middle school students or homeschooling parents.

My Niece Calls It "The Coolest Book"
I don't understand kid's fascination with animals, but my Niece adores them. I bought the Amazon Rainforest book as a present; it has helped draw us closer. She just didn't give me any breathing space with my kindle, had to order one for her. This book has become her favorite among all the others she has. Even the stuffed animals have taken 2nd position since she got this book. The book presents animals that can be found in the Amazon rain forest in graphic details and in full colors too. The pictures are big, Clare and beautiful. The author didn't stop there; he goes further to describe in detail the unique features of each animal with detailed information about each of them.Even as an adult, I've learnt a lot more about animals that I already know and got to know those that I never heard of before. They are all contained in this book. Didn't realize the Amazon rain forest has such diverse and exotic animals.I highly recommend this colorful and inexpensive book to all parents and day care centers, not just as a teaching aid but also as a way to have fun together and grow closer to your children.

Animals and photos
The introduction to the book describes where the rain forests are, the rest of the book is photos of the animals that live in the rain forest and Wiki text about each animal. The photo are very nice, the paragraphs are fairly lengthy, so overall we found the book very interesting. The book ends with ends with 5 question quiz (and answers are on the next page).Ali Julia review

This book is above average and is acceptable for children
This book is well written. The author seems to know a lot about the rainforest. There are none of the nonsense statements that give away juvenile authorship in this book. This book was written by an adult. No information sources are listed, but photos were credited.Maybe the author is new and does not know that nonfiction books list references used to create a nonfiction book. Readers who want more information might go to the reference books used by the author. Many wannabe authors are making up their own (often incorrect) facts. So it is really important to make yourself stand out as a professional author by citing the books you used to get facts for the book.

Good book: educational and entertaining
My nephew loves animals, and so do I. But I knew very little about the fauna of the Amazon rainforest. That's why I picked this book up, and I'm glad I did it because it was fun and educational. Lots of information and photos about the Amazon rainforest and some of the different animals that live in it. My favorite, the Puma yagouaroundi, what a cat! There's also a quiz at the end of the book on interesting facts about the Amazon.Good book for children, and animal lovers like me. :)

educational and entertaining book!
This book is a very good material if you want to teach or introduce your child on the most bizarre animals in the planet. It is a very informative and entertaining book that describes vividly the appearance, habitat, diets and behaviors of the exotic animals in the Amazon rainforest. This is a well-researched trivia book. The description for each specie of animal is very easy to read for a child.

Educational and Engaging
This book is a great way to expose children to critters they normally wouldn't get to see. Some of them I'd never even heard of before. The photos are beautiful and the book has the right amount of text. My nieces just love animal books. This is another great book for their ipad at a bargain price. Great tool for some quality family time.
