I bought this product to solve my fat ps3 not reading disc's. I ordered though Brainydeal and I have to say their customer support is very good. I got the product within a week and put it in my ps3.It worked for about an hour and my problems started all over again. I contacted Brainydeal and they sent me a new one right away.I have now installed my new laser and it seems to be working so far. I hope the product will last longer than the other one did.I would buy from Brainydeal again.

I know this won't be helpful to the "seasoned" installer, as it might be easier to them to install. I installed this every way possible described by the numerous "YouTube" videos on the issue, and never could get it to work properly. Don't take the markdown to heart if you have successfully installed one of these, I know at least the motor works right. If you are attempting to repair your own PS3, I'd recommend the full Blu-Ray drive assembly instead.

Bought this laser and installed. Worked great for a short time. Started to have hiccups and eventually stopped working WAY premature. Not very satisfied with this purchase. :(

I ordered this item and got it in 3 days! As novice at working on computers and electronics, this was a VERY EASY fix! There are tons of videos on YouTube to help guide you thought the replacement procedure. It took me about 30 minutes, and my system was up and running. I have a 1st gen, 80gig, backwards compatible unit. I decided to replace the hard drive as well, and up graded to a 750 gig hard drive. I ordered it off Amazon as well, it came in the SAME DAY as the laser lens came in! A easy switch as well!For those individuals who want to do this replacement and hard drive conversion, please be aware, there are a few different laser lenses out there, that go in the PS3 unit!! There are SINGLE and TWIN lense units!! If you put a your disk in the PS3, and DOES NOT SPIN, it is usually a single lens unit. If it SPINS, it's a twin lense unit. Do your research first before you buy!!!Highly recommended seller!! Good luck to everyone who wants to try this conversion!!

i use this product i put it on everything work fine for about two or three time it suddenly stop working i read other people review i should of listen but it was to ignorant so i bite the bullet i recommend do not waste your money people

After my PS3's laser burned out (dust and lack of use due to me playing more digital games at the time), I was feeling pretty hopeless about it. My warranty had long ran out, and I couldn't afford a new PS3. After a bit of research (remember, there are different models for the different models) I found which one I needed (this one) and I ordered it. It came in sooner than I had thought it would, and was in perfect condition. After fiddling around with getting it installed (my fault- I was unsure how to undo the ribbons that secure the lenses), as well as learning that you have to "cock" the disc tray, I fired up my (at the time brand new due to having never played it even though it had been out for nearly a year) copy of Dark Souls and it worked like a charm. I highly recommend this for those of you that are dealing with PS3 issues.

got it in the mail the day it said it was gunna ship i got it put it in simply turned on and walaa it worked. thankbu for great part that has been working for about a month strong now no probs at all

I purchased this to fix a friends PS3 drive. The drive would take in a disc but wouldn't read it or start spinning. This is very easy to install and takes less then 10 minutes.If you are going to attempt this for the first time make sure there is no disc in the drive when you take it apart. Also if there is a disc and you forget or if you are just unlucky then you will mess up the gears in the drive and it is a pain in the butt to get the drive back together correctly. It isn't impossible but it could take a very long time.My friends PS3 is now working beautifully.

Delivery is fast. With careful visual check I saw the sign of deteriorating (by comparing with my existing one). I have no prove this is an used one. It could be left on shelf for a long time. At least by checking the batch number this one is manufactured later than my existing one.Quickly installed and it works. That is all I need. The only reason I didn't give 5 star is because I need time to check if this is a reasonable genesis parts. I had my PS3 for 7 years but the laser is wear out since I had my home theatre built and heavily running blu-ray in the last two years (one movie a week, is that consider very heavy load?). If this new parts is actually run another 1-2 years based on my current use, it is absolute a worth of repairing than investing new equipment.Suggestion:1. If it is really a used one please marked so, sometimes customer is willing to pay more for a new one.2. It is suggested to sell only the laser part (KEM 400A) than including the whole deck, if that can save a little in price. Also it is much easier to replace the laser part only than the whole deck (there is a motor control cable that require you disassemble more). I only replaced the laser and it works.Since I found another seller which sell the laser part only with a higher price, you really cannot complain above two.I would recommend this part to other buyer.

This is a functional assembly, but it is not new. It is refurbished. The laser spindel in my assembly clearly had some scratches and a dent like it was pulled from another ps3 and repaired for resale. The laser assembly does work there is no issue there. The seller should make purchasers aware that this item is a refurbished working unit.

Part worked very well and reads discs just fine now. Only issues is that some games tend to crash at specific moments like the end of a match on COD. Could be my system but your mileage may vary. Very cheap and easy to install with the tool, and worked as intended.
