8oz Cedar Oil Can - Essential Eastern Red Cedar Wood (Juniperus Virginiana) Oil - Fox Creek Cedar Oil

This is seriously the most amazing product I’ve ever used in my life. I’ve been struggling with a flea infestation, that was practically eating the dogs alive. There were maybe thousands of fleas. I constantly bathed them and they would hatch hundreds more the next day. It was a never ending battle. And I had already tried OTC flea topicals that were just a waste of money, the fleas would die and stay away a few days and come back with a vengeance in a week at best. I was at my wits end, and I was exhausted from constantly bathing 4 dogs and 3 cats non stop, and so were they. Until I found this amazing, amazing oil. I read about it while in a deep dive about flea solutions on Reddit, and only one or two posters even mentioned it. Usually only solution to kill flea infestation is bombing and spending hundreds on chewable flea meds. Spending $1,000 on all 7 animals for just 3 months is not feasible for me, especially when they will just return after it wears off. I don’t want to be dramatic but it’s changed my life and changed my dog’s life. It’s given me a chance to have a break from the relentless fleas and try to kill the source. I don’t know what the science is behind it but the cedar oil literally kills the fleas on contact. They just start running for their lives and when the oil touches them they die right away, I’ve never seen anything like it since fleas are damn near impossible to kill, and I’ve tried everything. Not to mention it’s smells wonderful, so fresh and clean like a walk in the woods in autumn or after a rain. I of course dilute in carrier oil, I recommend coconut oil, and rub it into their skin and let it penetrate their fur. The fleas will start jump away. Keep applying every couple days so it doesn’t wear off, until there’s no more fleas. After one application they’re all dead. If you are consistent and keep applying it I promise the source will eventually die too because they won’t have a food source anymore and will die off. Amazing, amazing product, I wish everyone knew about this and I can’t say enough good things about it. I’m sure it can kill any insects, because if it can kill fleas it can surely kill anything. I will definitely be taking this with me and the dogs in the future, whether camping, or hiking or just going on a walk, this is a MUST HAVE, to stay fresh, sane, and keep the bugs and pests away from you.

I am really glad I got this! I have an old 1950's cedar chest that didn't smell cedar-y anymore. So I wiped this cedar oil over the cedar wood inside the chest and let it soak in, then wiped off any excess. Voila, now the cedar chest will repel moths for years to come! My woolens are safe. It is, definitely, a pain to open the bottle. You need a hammer and an ice pick (seriously!). But once you've got those, you're set. And yes, it does in fact smell like cedar. I don't understand the reviews saying that it doesn't.

Update 2026: Would buy this again, after a year of use the chest smells better than ever. Changed my score to 5 stars. Bought this to replace the cedar oil smell in my cedar chest, but it doesn't smell like cedar. I thought that I would buy another product to get the smell and it too wasn't what I expected. I'm from Mississippi and our cedar trees are much stronger, with a wonderful Christmas feel to them. It does smell better after about a week of airing it out. I guess it just depends on the area the oil comes from as to what you get. Gave it 4 stars and I would recommend this, as long as you know that ones needs to air it out before making a judgement.

Use this pil on my ceader walls once a month keeps the smell going strong just wish it lasted longer

Essential Eastern Red Cedar Wood (juniperus virginiana) Oil from Fox Creek Cedar is a quality product, but you have to be patient and wait for the results. This is a highly concentrated oil that has no resemblance to aromatic cedar straight from the can. In fact, in this state, it has an unidentifiable, and not to pleasant chemical smell. Apply the oil per the directions on the can and allow it to 'settle' into, e.g., an existing cedar surface for several days, after which, the 'from the can' chemical smell disappears and the familiar aromatic cedar smell remains. I used this product on paper-backed cedar veneer that was too thin to produce a noticeable aroma. I applied the oil straight from the can to a test piece and allowed it to dry for several days. After that period, it had a pleasant, but strong, cedar smell. For my project, I needed to reduce the aroma a bit, so I mixed the oil with denatured alcohol to a ratio of 50/50 and applied it to the cedar veneer with a spray bottle. This method worked very well and after the alcohol completely evaporated, a mild cedar smell remained.

Somehow a camofly came into my dressing room while I was in it and it immediately made a U- turn and tried to flee . I was very impressed ... needless to say , it didn't escape me .

A very elderly friend of mine from church recently was attacked by scorpions in her bed. I purchased a bug spray that had cedar oil in it and it smelled great. Unfortunately the cedar smell disppeared after a few days so I wanted more of a concentrated oil that the cedar smell would linger a longer time. The first bottle of another brand was diluted and expensive. I was expecting to drip a drop or two fom this can of oil on each small piece of cedar wood block and place each piece in parts of her house. The decorative cedar tongue in groove slat that I bought to slide underneath her bed had a stronger smell than this oil has. I put the cedar slats of wood together and slid them underneath her bed. I was hoping to leave a bottle of this oil that a home healthcare worker could just drop a few drops each week to keep a faint cedar smell throughout her home. This may be a great oil to protect wood, but this small can of cedar oil did not have an intense cedar smell I was expecting or hoping for. I will now buy another similarly priced product that may have the intense smell I am seeking. This is a very fine oil that appears great for protecting, but does not have the intense smell I am seeking.

This is great for refreshing cedar pieces used to keep moths away from wool clothing. The can I received leaked so the box it was shipped in with no padding to keep it from rattling around and which was smashed, smelled really good. ~{:-)

It's not quite what I expected, I was looking more for an oil to soak cedar wood pieces I bought to put in drawers and hand in closets. This has the scent but it's not what I was hoping for.

as the company says: it could take some time for the scent to develop because it's canned without exposure to air. When I first opened the can and sniffed it, I was disappointed. But I used it anyway and sure enough after a few minutes it was heavenly. Thank you for putting the time and care into making such a high quality oil. 10 stars!!!!

This is the real deal from what I can tell. There is a metal seal plug to stop it leaking in transit and to keep it fresh. Super easy to open with a wine opener.

Bought this to mix for bug repellent- worked so far. Smells really good like fresh cedar.
