I purchased this book as a Christmas gift for my nephew who loves to tell me facts about trains. I was hoping to expand his interests. My nephew is 12 and I was worried a book would not be the most fun gift, but the moment he opened it up, he started reading it and seemed to enjoy the information he was learning. His mom also thanked me for not getting him another train gift. :)

Before passing this book on to my grand nephew, I read it and was amazed at "How" little I knew about the "how" of things. I found that I enjoy the Science channel's "How It's Made" series. Although this it written at a diferent level of understanding, I found it to be a refreshing way to be in the "know." My neice said that my grand nephew is always asking her and her husband questions...and in effect enlightening them, too.

Excellent book my grandson LOVED this book. It has been useful for keeping him occupied and helping with his reading.

Iv'e been looking at these for some time I always trying to get him to read more. I finally bought two for my grandson man he was thrilled with them! He skyped me to tell me how much he liked them, yay TIME MAG!! I'll will be getting the rest for him a better reader is a better learner.

I read this over and over and used it as an encyclopedia/ how to. I highly recommend this to anyone who needs information on how things work. Now, I can save money by making my own paper and pizza dough.

I'm always reading reviews but never leaving any but this book was a hit with my family from the moment I opened the package so I had to come and write a review. It's broken up into chapters (animals,transportation,ect..) so you know what you will be learning about in that chapter instead of all mixed together like some books we have purchased. I have two boys (7 and 8) and a daughter that is 13. They have started the crystal project and my son took the book to school today to show his class how elephants communicate. We as a family will sit in the livingroom while my daughter holds the book someone will pick a number that will be the chapter we review and then someone else will pick another number and that will be the subject we read about that night. LOTS of GREAT information in the book and keeps kids attention! Can't say enough about how great this book is. 100% worth the money

My Mom and Dad bought this for our 9 yr old! He loves it! All children want to know how things work. This book explains it and teaches with fun!

I bought my 10 year old grandson “Big Book of How” and the "Just Joking" as part of his birthday gifts. His mother wrote the following to me. "'The books came yesterday – and he LOVED them! He couldn’t put either one down…Read out loud every other page, 'Hey Mom! Did you know … ____ !" This is from a child who can read, but has never really enjoyed it. Enough said.

RECEIVED THE ORDER ON TIME, CONSIDERING IT CHRISTMAS THAT WAS GREAT. NICE BOOK AND A GREAT EDUCATION FOR CURIOUS KIDS.

This is a beautiful book, lots of info and great pictures. Perfect for my 6 year old.

I love this book because there are many activities included. Of the 3 books in the series, this in y opinion is the best one!
