whereโs the rest of the book???
I was very surprised the way the book ended. What happened, did they rescue the captain? Disappointing the way it ended.

An excellent short story, full of thrills
This is the tenth Brad Thor book that I have read. My goal is to read them all. I have seven more of the seventeen to go. I have enjoyed every one, even the early ones. Most writers are unable to both write a short tale and a full novel. Thor accomplished both very well. This is a short work that leads into a fuller thriller.Somali pirates have kidnapped a ship and killed its navigator. They are asking for a very high ransom. There was an attempt to rescue the ship and it failed. Scot Harvath's boss needed money, so he agreed to have four of his men save the ship. He agreed that if they were unable to save the ship and all of its personnel, they would not have to be paid. Scot and three men parachute to the ship. One is injured, so they are left to take the ship with only three. They discover that the captain of the ship is not on board, he has been taken to Somalia.

I simply HAD to read more!
Free Fall is just a teaser to the book Hidden Order, but once I got to the end of Free Fall I was so riveted to the story that had to find out what happened next. Hidden Order did not start up where Free Fall left off, but began in an entirely different place and mood. This caused me to wonder if the two really were connected in some way or if I was never going to find out what happened on that boat. In Hidden Order, we do find out what happened on the boat and we find out much much more. This was the first Brad Thorn book I've read and now I'm going back to read one of his earlier books which also features Scot Harvath, a crafty and tough as nails special operative who just happens to also have a way with the ladies. I decided to look into Thor's books after hearing a radio interview with Brad one morning. I'm very glad that I did, too. I've found his writing to be easy to read, but still on an adult level including a lot of history and geography while being a thrill ride with a final villain you never saw coming. I'm more of a non-fiction guy, but Thor is now on my reading list to stay!

This book is amazing! He's at the top of his game and as far as I'm concerned, he's up there with my list of all time best authors in my favorite genre of novel writers. Tom Clancy, any of the opcenter, jack Ryan Jr or the campus. Can't go wrong with any of those. Obviously there is the king, Jack Reacher by his creator, Lee Child. Then there is Brad Thor and his star "Harvath" who works for an of the books black ops espionage group called the Carlton group. Awesome series! Then you have Brad Taylor with his invincible bad ass tier 1 operator working for an elite off the books counterterrorism unit know as the taskforce. And last but certainly not least, David Baldacci, who produces, hands down some of the best military policy drama/action/suspense books out there... next to Lee Child's, Jack Reacher. But only his earlier books. These are the top of the food chain when it comes to military police mysteries, counterterror action books. They are all AWESOME!

Underwhelming Ending
Good book, but like all Brad Thor books, the ending was underwhelming. Elaborate build up with either ridiculously simple endings or endings that show up out of nowhere and are over before you even realize it's the ending.

and I loved the subject matter
What an exciting little read!It was my first time reading a book from Brad Thor, and I loved the subject matter. Who wouldn't enjoy an espionage thriller with Somali pirates? I know I did, and it also made me want to read more from the author. I even may start this series right, since this novella is #11.5 in the series, but I didn't know that when I sat to read it. I don't think it mattered anyway. I don't feel like I missed out on anything previously so it's all good.

15 Minute Quick Thor Fix
This prequel is really a very short story. The story itself is only 30% of what is downloaded; the rest is pages of opportunities to purchase other Thor books as well as the first several chapters of HIDDEN ORDER.This extremely brief short story provides more of an introduction to the initial setting of HO, and is for the most part a multiple page description of the tactical take down of a ship held by pirates, with Horvath performing his usual number of miracles. If you are expecting a better understanding of HO, this work does not provide that.Having said that, this short is actually better written than many of Thor's longer works.TIP: This is only about a 15 minute read. Don't plan on passing the time on your flight with only this to keep you company. At this price point (Free) it is worth the download, but bear in mind this is not even novella length.

Sales Gimmick
Don't bother. This Gimmick only exists to sell more books by this author at silly prices. There are better books out there. I won't be buying any books by this author or from S & S. A disgrace, really!

Pacy and exciting - didn't disappoint
This was a fantastic taster for Hidden Order. Definitely up to Brad Thor's usual standard. Very exciting and well paced, I think I am a little in love with Scot Harvath! If you like action thrillers then the Brad Thor novels are just the ticket, and this short story is a great way for you to try him out. I heartily recommend all the Scot Harvath stories.

A good short story
A good prelude to the next book but if you didn't get it you haven't missed anything by the next book.

Waste of money
Don't buy just get the Hidden Order book it doesn't justify it being sold as a separate book.
