About the Author Terra Smith grew up in Austin, Indiana, a small town 80 miles south of Indianapolis and just north of the Kentucky border. Terra was a pageant kid with about 350 trophies and national ranking. Through these pageants, she was cast in a television commercial for the sitcom series Major Dad. She is married to Craig Smith. Their daughter, Mia, was born with several problems including allergies. Eventually, Mia was diagnosed with over 100 allergies, genetic mutations, and conditions, including autism. Yet, despite Terra's growing concerns, Mia's medical treatment and immunizations followed routine care for healthy children. Her requests for help to find underlying reasons for Mia's poor health and development got Terra branded as an overly concerned new mother. Hope waned. She and Craig were losing Mia. Terra set out on a quest to find a new pediatrician who would act on her concerns. She educated herself, pieced together how to navigate through insurance claims, governmental bureaucracy, and the great variability in the quality of healthcare service. Through her unrelenting fight, Mia is greatly improved, both in health and development. Terra has become an advocate for kids with with autism and other special needs. She holds a special passion for parents of kids who are newly diagnosed with autism. There is hope for recovery. Read more

I totally enjoyed reading this book I have met the family that the book is about. I know that Mia parents do everything the can do for their child . I was amaised at all the allergies and problems that Mia has I really don't know how this family has the strength and patients that they do . I'm sure family's with disabled children and autistic children can relate to this family's life. I am just really impressed with Mia and her parents
