Forever

This was an original CD by Kool and the Gang and I have enjoyed playing it over and over.

Among Kool & the Gang Albums, this one is not recognised as much. Rated as one of their weaker one's. Well, my point of view never changes. When I say love Oldschool, that's how it stays. This Album does have some good songs. In fact, I feel that all of the songs are good. "Forever" itself is a good song, but my Favourites are "Broadway" and best of all,"God's Country. Knowing how well J.T Taylor sings, the songs are even better, because of the background vocals. That's the main reason why I enjoy music by Kool & the Gang. They are on my Number one list of best vocalists followed by SOS Band, Starpoint, Shalamar and Mtume. What can I say, it's the 80's. All said, this album is good, get a copy! 5 stars to Kool & the Gang, FOREVER!

The best

Stone Love is probably the best song on the album, followed by Victory. This version of "Special Way" pales next to the radio release(?). Either I don't understand this band after listening to this, or something went wrong. There should have been more hard-hitting funk here. Believe me, I love the synth period, but this is just TOO dated for me.

received item in a timely fashion. Item was in very good condition except for the case wasn't in the best condition. No big deal though, overall I was happy with the transaction.

There are probably 4-5 of Kool and the Gang's best mellow tracks. My favorite is God's Country and Special Way. You might not find those tracks on the Greatest Hits CD.

Je possédais cet album en K7 depuis les années 80, autant dire qu’aujourd’hui c’est une relique bien usée qu’un passage dans une chaîne hifi détruirait à coup sûr ! Je suis donc content de le retrouver en CD, Kool & The Gang me ramenant irrémédiablement à mon adolescence. Mais il faut être honnête, ce Forever a mal vieilli, ça faisait longtemps, très longtemps que je ne l’avais pas écouté et la production eighties avec synthés bien en avant comme c’était la règle pour les albums de cette période, passe mal, il faut aussi pousser le volume pour avoir un son un peu puissant. L’âge d’or du groupe s’achevait, après avoir enchaîné les succès les uns après les autres entre 1978 et 1984 (ils n’ont eu pratiquement que ça !). Rien de désagréable du tout dans cet album sympa, qui me rappelle de bons souvenirs et même quelques bons titres. Rien du calibre de Celebration ou Ladies’ Night (tous ces titres qu’on peut passer encore aujourd’hui et qui feraient bouger n’importe quelle armée d’impotents !!!), non, mais Stone Love, Special Way ou Victory ont été des hits mineurs. Après cet album, JT Taylor, le chanteur historique du groupe, s’envole vers une carrière solo discrète et le groupe ne retrouvera plus jamais le succès qu’il a connu dans son âge d’or. JT reviendra dans Kool & The Gang le temps d’un seul album, State of Affairs en 1995, mais qui fera un flop. Différentes incarnations de Kool & The Gang tournent encore autour du monde, jouant plutôt habilement sur la nostalgie mais la magie appartient bien au passé.

J'avais bien reçu en occasion et en excellent état l'album Forever. Même si cet album de Kool and the gang a le moins marché, je le trouve quand même dans l'ensemble assez réussi. Mes chansons préférées sont : Stone love, Forever, Special way, et God's country. Je suis très satisfait de mon achat et je remercie amazon..🙂
