Brookstone Travel Tranquil Moments Alarm Clock Sleep Sounds Machine

This particular purchase was to replace my other Travel Tranquil Alarm Clock which had broken. The clock was advertised as new---It was not. There were old batteries in the clock and the protective cover was missing. The clock does work and I'm glad to have it as a replacement for my other clock----but the description was not correct at all.

I, too, was going to join the ranks of the totally disgruntled customers, who felt that they had wasted their money on this product, until I read the review which said to press the (totally hidden) reset button in the battery compartment. ( This very tiny recessed button is located by removing the battery cover and looking on the outside of the battery compartment, on the opposite side from the speaker, and if you have really, really good eyes, in very good light, you can read the word," reset." The hole is about the diameter of a pin.) Come on Brookstone!!! Your products are usually better than this! Amazing!!!! The unit is now back to working, thanks to pushing the magic reset button. Why isn't this information in bold faced type in a trouble-shooting section? It is only due to the posting of a generous customer on this site, that this device didn't end up in the dumpster. This is a poorly designed device, undeserving of the Brookstone label.

I owned the predecessor to the Travel Tranquil Moments Alarm Clock for more years than I can remember and relied on it for the white noise (and various other sounds) to lull me to sleep and the alarm to wake me up. When, after many hours of use, its sound quality diminished, I was delighted to see that I could get a replacement.I was happy to see that this new version works exactly the same way the old one worked. I do remember having had some trouble initially with its predecessor in trying to set it, but once one is used to it it couldn't be simpler - or faster.My only complaint, and it's a small one, is that when the screen is viewed from any angle other than face-on, it is not readable. But it's a small quibble, and I'm happy to have this reliable little clock to take with me on all my adventures.

I got one of these for my birthday to use when i went to college and I loved it because I sleep with white noise and the alarm on this is the least annoying I have ever heard but would still wake me up. However, after about a year or so it got this weird problem where it had a hard time turning back on and functioning properly once unplugged. At first I would have to wait a few hours but then after a bit it took days even weeks before it started working again. so if there was a power-outage or something I'd be screwed. Yes it comes with back-up batteries but having those in doesn't seem to help it work after being unplugged and plugged back in--it glitches out and doesn't know if it is running on batteries or wall power. I thought it might just be because it fell a few times but after I ordered a new one from Amazon (the first was from Brookstone I think), the same thing happened. Since it is a relatively expensive item, I don't recommend trying it out.

Put off buying this travel clock for over 4 years, depending on hotel room AC units to provide the white noise I need to sleep. Anyway, glad I finally have it. Especially like that some of the sounds are "wind-down" and "relax" and others are sleep. Haven't been back across the pond to try the 'jet-lag' feature but intend to try it next time I go. Funny thing is....I never did get around to putting in the backup battery and this clock remembers my settings even it's been unplugged for weeks at a time. The size is also perfect for travel and buttons easy to learn. Overall great product. Much better sound than the smartphone white noise app I resorted too before I bought this.

Beware of XSFORU, the company that sends you this sound machine. I have this sound machine and decided to purchase another one to give as a gift. The machine that this company sent me didn't work, either with the batteries or with the plug. Since it isn't Amazon Prime, I had to pay a shipping charge. When I contacted XSFORU about returning the nonworking machine, they said I had to pay again to ship it back. To date I have spent ten bucks for something that doesn't work. Since I still wanted this particular sound machine to give as a gift, I then bought it directly from Brookstone. It works great....and they have FREE SHIPPING. My suggestion...stay far, far away from ordering anything from XSFORU. They have a lousy return policy concerning shipping charges.

I love the different sounds. It is very portable, love the size fits in pocketbook, when I travel to visit family or on business. alarm is great. Time, date everything is there with you. Drowns out the noises of a hotel, or adds to the quiet of a hotel.I have one and bought one for my son and daughter. A must have if you travel.

We have had this clock before and lost it. I was glad to find it's replacement on Amazon. The sound machine is great for when we travel and want to put the kids to bed early and not have them hearing everything we say in the next room. It is very easy to figure out how to adjust time, set the alarm, and change the sounds.
