Good Overview, Poor Detail
It has good broad information about the island and what to see and do. However, when it gets into the details, it was clear that the authors had never actually been to the locations they were writing about. So use this book for building an itinerary, but do some further research elsewhere before actually embarking on a specific adventure. P.S. Sardinia rocks!!!

We just returned from our trip to Sardinia. We used this travel guide since we wanted to find the more out of the way gems than your regular travel guide would suggest. I found the info of one of the contributors more helpful than the other contributor. There really wasn't much changed from the older edition except for particular changes to individual listings but the Sardinia described has changed a lot in recent years. This was not reflected in this edition. A LOT of money has not been spared in rerouting and building roads, for instance. There is nothing to see when snorkeling and we wasted a lot of chasing trying to chase down a few fish in most of the spots recommended for snorkeling. Other well known places were not mentioned. The hotels and restaurants mentioned were on target but followed a familiar path - the bar next door to the restaurant recommended, or a town that a friend likes...not a real inquiry into this island... there was nothing erroneous, per se, just not a very lonely planet look at an incredible place.

Useful book to get an overview
Used this guide on a trip to Sardinia earlier this year. As with all Lonely Planet guides it was useful both for planning and whilst we were there. It's a good size and not too heavy for carrying around. Many other reviews comment that it lacks detail but given that this book covers the entire island, I don't think this is really surprising. It's easy to supplement the book with online resources but this gives a very good overview of good places to visit.

Better than Kindle version.
I previously bought the Kindle version but found it really difficult to use as it is a book which you need to dip in and out of. It gave a good idea of Sardinia and helped us decide where to visit. There are a few details that were misleading e.g the difficulty of the walk to the Gorrupu Canyon and it's better to take the train from Cagliari airport to the city centre rather than a bus. The train only costs 1.20 EU.

Very good useful guide
As usual with the Lonely Planet series this is an very good, useful guide. It covers all the main towns very well but where it can be lacking is in some of the smaller ones. However, I realise that it is a case of balance between size, manageability, cost and detail.
