The valve leaks
Might be me but I cut one open and noticed the one way valve uses hard plastic on plastic ball and hole valve system that may have imperfection and need a rubber membrane to work a little better. Great idea but didn't work well for me.

I am only giving the pump 5 stars
Don't know how it works with regular bags but the pump works great on other vacuum items. I have the older type foodsaver marinater and it seals it like a champ and also the rubber type fitting on the bottom fits over the nipple on the foodsaver canisters and seals at least mine. It had a spring inside unlike the Ziploc hand held pump making it easier to use.
