It did come with paper, which I didn’t know that it would, and the paper is fountain pen friendly. The paper that it comes with is a beautiful cream color instead of a harsh white. The extra pockets on the sides are nice, and I like the pen holder. The stitching and metal portion of the magnetic closure are actually gold, which isn’t easily seen from the photos they have listed. This definitely is not my preference, but it is not reason enough for me to send it back. My biggest reason for giving this four stars is because the pen holder is quite small for my Lamy Safari fountain pen. The pen holder was a key feature and reason for me buying this specific journal. I have been able to stretch out the pen holder to accommodate the pen, but it has take a little work.
