I was skeptical of buying this system as the price was too good compared to other 5MP POE systems with 1TB hard drives, easily $50+ less. But, free returns, so I gave it a shot. HFWS seems to be a good company, logos are on the cameras and on the NVR software. Cameras seem to be of good quality, and have one way audio, which some of the pricier systems don't have. FOr two way audio I think you need to get the wireless cameras... The audio recording and the night vision are pretty good. The video quality seems to be pretty sharp, time will tell how long these cameras last outside.Another thing the pricier systems are worse in is the frame rate that they record at, some can only do 15 fps. This NVR can record the video at 30fps @ 5MPs! I left it at 25fps because that should be good enough and saves a longer history. I had used the XMEye with a previous AHD system and it works well. I returned the AHD system as it could only record at 7fps (I think that is due to the BNC cables it uses).The VMS software is also pretty standard, same as previous system. Works well on my windows 10 laptop.Installation is pretty easy, except of course for running the cables. Crawling in the attic is not fun, and dangerous, so I suggest using professionals for this part.

I can’t get the system to get past the boot up stage. It keeps shutting down and rebooting. It started off ok and when I was setting up it was working, only showed 2 out of the 5 cameras I’ve hooked up, but it was going in the right direction.

Your going to have to email them if you have a problem and the the only customer support is in Asia. Do to language barriers you will pull your hair out trying to get your problem fixed. I paid to have the unit installed in my place of business and turned on the touring feature. That's when it cycles through all the cameras in full screen. I found out that when it tours you can't stop the cycling easily to watch one camera so i decided to turn touring back off. It would not turn off for nothing. It just continually cycled to no end. I got in touch with customer support through email and to make it short, nothing was accomplished. I decided to return it to Amazon and exchanged it for a new system. I had to pay an installer to come and reinstall the new unit. I did not dear even tried to put it on touring. I was just happy it was working regularly and did not touch a thing. Now for no reason, in less than a month, one of the camera's image flipped a 180 degrees for no reason and i can not find a way to fix it. I checked every menu in the machine and there is nothing to rotate the image of that one camera. I sent customer support an email about the problem and i'm afraid of the headache i'm expecting to solve the issue.UPDATE:They got it working. They said i had an old operating system that prevented me from fixing the problem. They emailed me the firmware upgrade and video on how to do it. We got over the language problem by emailing back and forth pictures and videos. it took some doing but it's done. Hope there will be no other problems.

I have bought this POE security camera system after some researches. The promotion is the final push. I am grand the POE system turn out to be very suitable for my house. My WiFi camera always have the connection problems. With the pre-installed phone lines in the house I can install the POE system by myself. Mounting the camera is easy. The system set up is straight forwards once you have the ethernet network ready. The installation instruction come with the system is too small to read. But you can down load the manual from their web which have all the details about the DVR set up. The camera is heavy and looks solid for outdoors. The 4M pictures are so sharp and clear much better than the 1M WiFi camera I bought before. The nighttime image is great. Overall, this system delivers as promised. The motion activated recording save huge amount disk space. The smartphone app is so good. You can review the recording through the app. For my installation, I have bought a Cable Tester, a Crimper, some RJ45 Connector Plugs, Adapters, Couplers, and Ethernet Wall Plates.

I purchased one set of these cameras because of the price and purported quality and features. I was so impressed with the quality of construction, image and ease of setup I have purchased a second system and recommended this to relatives and friends as well. i was also able to connect other brands of ONVIF camera to this NVR and support was amazing.

Works good but mobile app needs a lot of work. Purchased about two months ago. Setup one month ago. Have a defective camera, no support from Amazon, very little support from HFWS. Very hard to work with, don’t believe it will last long. UI on unit is somewhat difficult to use also.

I can't see anything in close up magnify 5 ft away from the camera. Don't think you can read the car license plate.
