Romania
My boyfriend is Romanian. He is actually the first in his family to be born in the United States of America. Its weird how proud he is of his Romanian heritage, yet he can't seem to tell me anything about it. I just hope I don't end up being able to tell him more than he can tell me, because I've always been very interested in other cultures so I do a lot of research. We're planning a trip to Romania, I'm hoping he'll pop the question there in a really picturesque location. Nothing too fancy, but anyways. I bought this book because he tells me about how much he misses his mother's Romanian cooking and I would like to be able to cook him up something really awesome so that he'll want to keep me around for a while. I've only read into it a little bit. Haven't had much time for it yet, but I have found it pretty interesting so far. So if you find yourself in a similar situation... then consider it.

Good Eats Romanian Style
This is a really good reference book with fantastic recipes. I'm enjoying the similarities to American cuisine. Great book!

My mom's cooking
All my grandparents were from Romania, so most of the food I ate when I was young had a Romanian twist to it. I made the Sarmale de varza recipe in this book and it tasted just like if my mother and grandmother had made them. I know, " you've heard that before", but they did taste great. I also made the Romanian pancakes (Clatite is what we called them). Ah the memories of childhood!

Very interesting.
There are definitely better Romanian cookbooks out there, but don't buy this one for that purpose. This is FULL of wonderful history and culture that is well written and fun to read. A great introduction to Romanian culture! There are a few tasty recipes as well.

Great Cookbook
I fell in love with Romanian dishes when I first went to Romania in 1990. This cookbook's recipes are easy to follow and taste just like when I was there.

culture and cookery
My husband is of Romanian background, and I thought it would be nice to have some recipes to remind him of his childhood. Not only did I find a book of delicious recipes, but I hit the jackpot when it came to learning more about the Romanian culture. The recipes I've tried have all been easy to follow and make, almost all with easy to find ingredients. I get loads of compliments from my husband and from our Romanian friends! The historical notes, anecdotes, and cultural information are interspersed within the sections of the recipe book, are easy to read, informative and entertaining. This has been a great addition to my cookbook collection!

Good choice
The entire idea of this book is marvelous - to combine traditional food with history and literature it makes it almost like a novel. Is easy to read and has a wonderfull cover. It makes a great gift.Unfortunately, as a Romanian national and a cook, I can't say that I could find the recepies of my Mum into it. Some of the traditional dishes (the eggplants salad, the beans soup to name just two) contain additional ingredients that will completely spoil the taste that I know so well and I love.Recommended, but do not use it without the advice of a Romanian cook

Badly edited
A subtitle or more on every page have all been put at the back of the book, but without numbers so you can't tell which subtitle belongs to which page! Also very short.
