I have a Lagoon catamaran and I used this on the sail drives and the Flexofold props. It has been one year and the sail drives are looking just OK. Some growth but not too bad. The props on the other hand look good as day one. I might mention I live in SW FL so barnacle growth is a big problem. DO NOT get this in a spray can! The nozzle will get plugged up long before the can is empty. Not just me, the mgr of the yard said the same thing. **Q: can i use this on my outdrives and then paint over it?** A: very high content of zinc, I would be worried that it would oxidize under the paint. I would use a good expoxy primer **Q: Can this be applied under water?** A: No. Not only would it not stick, it is a spray can. One can was just enough for two props, shafts and Rutters. 29 ft wellcraft. ### ⭐ I DO NOT recommend this product. *by O***R on June 10, 2017* I used Pettit Prop Coat Barnacle Barrier on the propeller, prop shaft and strut of my 27 ft sailboat. I followed the instructions explicitly. I launched the boat in Pensacola, Florida on March 29, 2017 and sailed it to my dock in the Santa Rosa Sound about 35 miles east of Pensacola on March 31, 2017. Today I donned my snorkel and mask to scrub the green off of the bottom of the boat. Everything looked good except the propeller, prop shaft and strut were completely covered with barnacles. That is exactly what this paint was supposed to prevent! The only work around to for this is to don my mask and snorkle and clean the prop at least monthly during the warm summer months...which in Florida run from early May thru the red of October. The reason I used this paint was to avoid that very issue. To fix it the correct way the boat needs to be pulled and something else applied the the propeller, prop shaft and strut.
