Can anyone tell me the functions the does differently to a multimeter?

It doesn't do anything differently FROM a multimeter. It is a multimeter with a continuity function.

is this unit have auto power off??

I have the EM3082 model. It auto power off after 15 minutes of inactivity. After 14 minutes of inactively it gives out several short beeps. After 15 minutes it gives out a long beep before shutting down. I don't know about the EM3081 model.

Dose this comes with batteries and what type batteries dose it use ?

EM3085A does not come with a battery, it takes one AAA battery EM3081 and EM3082 require Two LR44 batteries which are included.
