Mainstreet Classics Octagon 5-in-1 Combo Board Game Set

It is a nice sized set with a smart, attractive design and any I critiques I make do not, to me, take away from the 5-star rating. They are acceptable to me. A beautiful leather-like feel and design. All the pieces are attractive and fitting to the size of the boards. The chess pieces range from about 1"(pawns) to 2"(queen), the 'checker' pieces a little small, but not annoyingly so, cribbage & dice are nice and love the cups. I also like the wood design on the chess pieces and cool Felt interior. The only minor problem to me was the size of dominoes, I feel the compartments could have easily allowed them to include a standard size. They are a bit small, but not 'travel-size' small, at about an inch long. Not worth removing a star. One strong suggestion, especially to gift givers, there is a strong 'varnish-like' smell to the set when you first take it out of box. I would suggest removing it from box and plastic bag to air out overnight, then repacking for gift wrap. I wasn't expecting it and was taken aback by it when I opened mine, but it went away, so all good. Not recommended for those who like large chess/checker sets.

Great quality- pieces are not too small. The game board is made out of this vinyl material which does give off a smell for a while

The game was smaller than expected an difficult to play the games. The pieces are small, as well. I would not suggest.

Perfect gift! Got this for my 14 year old step-son and he loves it! I wish he would keep it in the box to protect it better, but not that stressed since it wasn't super expensive. Fantastic quality, is NOT "cheap" quality at all. We both love that all the pieces have their own bag and storage case. Would definitely purchase again as gift and probably a spare when step-son wears this board out!

the board is about 9-10" square. can be carried for travel easily. the case is not leather, but never-the-less looks, feels nice. the game pieces are sturdy and attractive. for the money, its worth it!

The Main Street 5 in 1 Game Set contains all the classic games you're familiar with. Chess, Checkers and Backgammon are standard and it also contains a full set of Dominos and a set of Poker or Cribbage dice. It contains an instruction booklet with rules and history of each game. So it's not hitting you with any surprises of game innovation or anything which leaves presentation.When taken out of the outer sleeve box the game board box is revealed and I was immediately impressed. The checker/chess board makes up the lid of the box and the box on top and sides is a nice leatherette material that feels smooth and soft to the touch and is decorated by stitching along the edges. The bottom of the box is a soft felt type material that keeps the board from sliding around. The bottom and sides are black. The game board itself is this same faux-leather material as well and is slightly inset into a red boarder. Flipping the game board over reveals the leatherette backgammon board. The box really has a classy "den" type feel and look to it.Inside the box is revealed a sectioned off interior with four sections. The entire inside is covered in black felt. All the game pieces are contained therein sealed in plastic bags. But provided in the box are three fancier felt draw string bags you can use once you've taken them out of the plastic.All the game pieces are nice with the checkers being simplistic - simple black and white plastic discs with felt bottoms. The chess pieces are fancier with a wood like look to them. The dice and dominos are of a smooth white plastic with an off white look giving them an old fashioned feel. The dominos have a rounded off look and a heft that makes them feel of quality. Lastly, included are two dice cups that are covered in the black leatherette material.So there you have it. If you're looking for a simple checker/chess/backgammon set then this is probably a pass for you. But if you or someone you know is an enthusiast or you're looking for a nice and portable but more quality set or simply enjoy higher end and more quality products then this might be the ticket.

Like most families, I already have a closet overflowing with board games, so the idea of a space-saving 5-in-1 game set really appealed to me. This set does not disappoint. The case itself is compact but not too small, with a well-crafted leather-look exterior and a roomy velvet-lined storage space inside.The set includes pieces for chess, checkers, and backgammon, plus a set of double-6 dominoes and poker dice with shakers. I was pleased with the quality of most of the pieces, but the checkers were really a disappointment. They seemed unnecessarily small and made of a cheap-looking plastic... not what I would have expected from this otherwise beautifully made set. As a whole, however, a very nice multi-purpose game set!
