I would have given the barrel 5 stars, it seems to be really good quality. No leaks, (water swelled it up and sealed it within a couple of hours) unfortunately the craftsmanship of the spigot was so poor it leaked constantly. I let it sit full of water for two weeks (constantly refilling) but it never stopped leaking! I ended up going to a local brew shop to buy a replacement. American probably would have replaced the spigot but I didn't want to wait for shipping or take a chance of recieving a poor quality replacement.Overall, I really like the barrel, Really hated the spigot.

So far, it hasn't leaked like my more expensive and overly touted Deep South Barrel. We'll see how much is left in there after it has matured to my liking.

Filled it with water until it stopped leaking. As soon as I put whiskey in it it started leaking. Was sent some wax to stop that now the spout won't stop leaking. Had to stick a cork in it to get it to stop.

The barrel is pretty much as expected. Nice product but like some others have stated, the spigot leaks. Sealed right away other than that.

The barrel came with a type of varnish on the outside, this should be listed in the description. By the time we were ready to put what we are aging in the barrel, it was past the return window.

Arrived on time, good condition, took about two weeks to seal, am storing now with citruswater in it, holds it well

The media could not be loaded.  I have used numerous barrels to make barrel aged manhattans and they are fantastic. The price point on this barrel was great so I ordered one. The barrel leaked so bad it drained in about 5 min or so. There was no way to hold water in it long enough to have it swell to close the gaps. I contacted the seller and they accepted a return, so good customer service. I am still waiting for the $$$ as they do not provide the refund until they receive the barrel.

Bought two barrels upon first time soaking with water one barrel did not leak at all, the other barrel seeped for a couple hours then sealed up. They have both been full and aging for three weeks now. No issues great product
