Finally a workbook on the correct level!
Each summer, we purchase review workbooks for our kids. Unfortunately, most of the time, they are too easy or too hard. Finally, one that reviews skills they were actually taught during the previous school year!

Common Core
When I was searching for a Math book for my 8 yr old, I specically looked for books that were not Common Core. This particular book said nothing in the description, nor did it have it on the cover that this Math is Common Core. I had to do an online search and talk a teacher to understand what it was I was trying to teach my child. We homeschool and the instructions in this book are almost non existent. One sentence of " What is the value of 5?" for instance. It has been many, many years since I went to third grade. This level of math shouldn't be comlicated. I do not like the Common Core and I do not like the Math especially. Hopefully, with the help of my friend we will figure this out and do well.

Having gotten a little behind in math during 3rd grade ...
Having gotten a little behind in math during 3rd grade, my kid worked from this book every other day for 6 weeks during summer break. He usually did 2 or 3 half or quarter pages at a time so it wasn't overwhelming (usually a half page from addition, a half from subtraction, and a half from multiplication). He is definitely a lot further ahead than if we had done nothing, and I see that he is breezing through his first several math assignments in 4th grade. This book seems to include material from every math topic studied during 3rd grade. It includes a test after each chapter and a comprehensive mid-book and end of book test.

Great review tool for summer practice!
This book is a very good review of 3rd grade math for kids to use over the summer. I offered to buy it for my kids' parents (I'm a 3rd grade teacher), and 5 took me up on it. Kids lose so much over the summer, it kills me to think of how much they have to relearn in 4th grade. Get this, or the newer version, and USE it. Parents have no idea how much re-teaching has to be done in September and October due to the learning loss over the summer.

Definitely get this!!!
I am an 8 year old and my mom got this for me. I tried it out and I definitely think you should get this. This book teaches fun and interesting lessons that can help you work well in school. But if you feel very advanced, (which I found out I was) you should try the grade 4 math book.

GREAT for test prep
I purchased this book 1 month before my daughter had standardized testing. We worked through the book and few days and she really enjoyed it. It covered everything that we had in our year but in a shortened form. After picking her up from her test she said that she knew several of the questions because they were similar to the ones from her "Practice Test" I have used Spectrum Prep books for 4 years now and have no reservations about making another order in January of next year.

Alligned with Curriculum
I bought this book to tutor a 3rd grade child in Math. The book covers almost all of the topics the child's teacher plans on teaching, just in a different order. I like that each section also has word problems. I wish that there were some pages that looked like a standardized test in order to prepare for them. This seems to recover curriculum, not exactly test prep.

This is a real math book!
This book is an outstanding book to help teach your children math the real way minus the use of common core math. This for the most part is good old fashioned math the way it should be taught. I highly recommend this book to any student. We have used the 2nd and 3rd grade book from this company and will be using the 4th and 5th grade books soon enough.

Good addition to math curriculum
We are using this in addition to our math curriculum for practice. Like the other spectrum books, this is clearly set out, has engaging exercises and is enjoyed not just tolerated.
