In short, if I had it to again I'd just go to any hardware store and pick up the standard black ones. I used it for a radon vent fan installation.The long:This item is functionally equivalent to the black ones you can get at most hardware stores. One of the black ones was $8; this with shipping was $20, making this about 60% more expensive. Ouch. I was hoping there would have been two, but there was only one, i.e. if you are using these with a radon vent fan to go: 3" PVC -> Pump w/ 4" housing (like the RadonAway RP145) -> 3" PVC you need to order two of these. For my purposes, since my installation was in the attic, there were no aesthetics to consider, but maybe if you are using this somewhere a bit more visible it would be worth the money.It works perfectly fine as far as I could tell. I have it above the fan, so if there are any stretching stress fractures that develop in the coupler it'd be easier to see (I'm assuming being darker in color, the black unit would hide the stress fractures). Also I'm assuming that the top coupler being stretched, rather than the bottom coupler which is being compressed, will fail first).

The coupling worked well and has a nicer appearance than the black ones from a box store on a radon system but with shipping it is quite expensive in comparison.

My radon fan failed after 8 years, so replaced the dried out, slightly mildew-stained boots at the same time - these made the whole install look clean and professional.

I got this with the radon fan which I needed to replace after 10 years. I replaced the coupling since I figured it had seen its day as well. Installed easily

I used this to install a FanTech 2190 HP radon system in place of an existing RadonAway XP151C. The FanTech has a 4" inlet and outlet, and my PVC pipe is 3". These work perfectly and match the color of the pipe and the radon fan unit so everything looks professionally installed.
