As you strengthen the atrophied muscles in your upper back, there's going to be discomfort. The more you wear it, the stronger those muscles get, the more you passively assume the posture the device creates. You're overcoming decades of poor posture with this device. It says don't wear it for more than 4 hours and I'd recommend following that advice (I wear for anywhere from 4-10 hour shifts and forget that I have it on but I'm used to wearing much more uncomfortable equipment for longer periods). If you're having skin rubbed raw by the straps, you're wearing it too tight. The device is not meant to pull your shoulders back it's meant to keep them from rolling forward- you're supposed to hold your shoulders back.If you're wearing it over clothing, I suggest wearing the pads in your underarms to aid comfort for prolonged wear (if I'm doing security work with a jacket on I wear it this way) but it won't be concealed under clothing with the pads on. I also suggest adjusting it and THEN putting it on (go over your head, not one side then the other) rather than slipping it on and trying to adjust it- you won't get it snug enough to work properly.It works. I feel the soreness in the center of my upper back, right between my shoulder blades where the muscle it's supposed to improve are located. Give it a chance to work and wear it properly and it will work for you.
