Great chair for the money!
This was a solid buy for us. My 90yo mother is moving in with my husband and I and she has difficulty standing. We just finishing a renovation and I have some mid-century furniture in the living room so I definitely didn't want one of those ugly, puffy, bulky, gigantic recliners. This chair is meeting our needs in every way at an extremely affordable price. The fabric is a decent suede-like material in a neutral color. It's smaller than the typical recliner and definitely firmer, but not at all uncomfortable. I gave it 4 stars because it doesn't completely recline like the picture shows but that's not enough to send it back. I definitely recommend this chair.

Cheap and Efficient Lift Recliner
I received this chair today, left at the door after a quick knock by FEDEX. The shipping box was light enough that I could drag it inside and open it up, by myself. After removing packing materials, I was able to get the power supply and remote from the bottom part of the chair and to install the seat back to the chair bottom. I hooked up the power supply and plugged it into the wall socket, et voila, a working lift recliner. It works as advertised. It is light and can be easily moved about by one person (even seniors with chronic osteo-arthritis). It is well made, very presentable in appearance as living room or bedroom furniture, and represents a real value for how well it works, how easy it was to put together, and how simple it is to operate. The only tool I used was a knife to snip one of the plastic ties used to hold moving parts together during shipment. You do not need to spend $1500 for a lift chair that will do no more than this very reasonable one made in China by obviously skilled craftsmen, and sold by Merax through Amazon. The lift recliner chair works like this using the two button wired remote. Push down from the normal sitting position and the back will recline and the foot rest will come up. Just like a normal recliner, eh? Push up from the reclined position and the mechanism will recover to the upright position. Push up more and the seat of the chair will rise and tilt forward, allowing you to stand with a minimum of fuss and bother, the narrow arms on each side providing additional support until you are upright and fully balanced. Give that cane to Jimmy Swaggart, Brother! Even though the chair is relatively small and light it will comfortably hold a big & tall man with ease and comfort (me). It is rated to 330 pounds. Also, it does not have a high back. This might be annoying for very tall people, but I do not find it disconcerting. There is also a kangeroo pouch on the right side to hold the remote but not large enough to hold a six pack of Sam Adams. Sadly, there are no built-in beer holders, so it will require a nightstand and a drink coaster nearby. If you have been thinking about and budgeting to buy an awesome lift chair with heat, vibration and other bells and whistles, I recommend you buy this one instead. No, I cannot speak for its long term reliability at this time, but the mechanisms work well and are quiet and smooth. If it does go tango-uniform (breaks or becomes inoperable) after the warranty period, I am only out a couple hundred (OK, about $300), but the same thing can happen to a $1500 chair. The light beige color works well with most color schemes and the chair does not look like it came from a "rest home" or Goodwill. I have no affiliation with Merax or Amazon, except I have helped one of them become a trillion dollar enterprise by my over-reliance on their low-budget products. This is my own unadulterated review of this chair. I just hope I will feel the same about it a couple of years down the road. Worst case scenario, I will still have $1200 saved in my pocket with which to buy another, new one. I will also update this critique with a scathing rebuttal of this chair's goodness, if necessary. Bahahaha.

Developed problems very quickly
Unfortunately the chair began to creak and grind after a few weeks and became unstable. It was not considered to be safe to use by the disabled person for which it was intended and it could not be returned or serviced. Amazon customer service refunded the price, as I'd originally purchased it direct from Amazon and not from the current third party seller. The chair's mechanism appears to be solid enough, but the construction overall is poor, and I wouldn't recommend this to anyone unless they're on a tight budget like me and willing to take a chance on it holding up for more than a month or two.On the plus side, it was not terribly small as I had feared, it was more comfortable than expected, and would have been a great buy for the money had it remained reliable and safe.

My Mom Loves It...
I purchased this for my 87 yr old mom. She is about 4' 7" and still shrinking. She loves the chair but with her height, when she lifts it her feet doesn't touch the floor right away. It's really funny, so bc my mom has no patience she mostly just rises up on her on. I tried to explain to her that the lift function is the reason for the chair. The size is perfect for her spot also. After reading the reviews is why I chose this one.

My best friend while recouping form abdominal surgery
I purchased this recliner to recuperate during abdominal surgery. I'm so glad I purchased a "lift" chair. I was in a lot of pain, and I figure that the lifting action of this recliner made things a lot more easier that they would have been. Going to the potty was hell, but getting up and on the chair, surprisingly not so bad. I would recommend wedging some heavy low object behind it, to allow it to not slide too much when you sit on it, while allowing it to not interfere with the reclining action of the chair's top part. NOTE: the footrest leave a lot to be desired.. it not so plush and comfy as the rest of the chair. I would prepare beforehand and tie up (secure) a nice plush pillow to make thins more comfier there. Also, if you are prepping for some kind of surgery, it would help to have plenty of pillows to tuck in the areas with some void, for support (smaller pillows work best) This recliner is quite narrow, a very large/heavy person may find this recliner uncomfortable. For my petite figure, it worked out great!

Mom's new favorite chair!
I purchased this for my mom who can no longer stand up by herself. When we used to help her up, she would be in so much pain from the arthritis in her shoulders and knees. Now, we can help her up without pulling her from a seated position. It is a great chair and the price was quite reasonable compared to others that essentially do the same thing. The chair is soft and comfy and moves very slowly, which is perfect as there are no jerky movements.

This chair is just as described. It is comfortable and super helpful for people who cant use their own strength to get up. We bought this for my mom who just had hip surgery and it worked out perfect for her.

Would recommend.
After my grandmother used it everyday for aproximately a yr, the bottons quit working. Whuch i typically could just replace the controll and cord if they had a contact number. Just irritating. Bout her one from pedigo and now am paying close to $1,000 for it.
