Worked great with one modification.
These were just what was needed when adding drywall over an existing wall. They are held in place by the two screws that hold the outlet or switch in place. The slot provided for the screws to pass through were too narrow to allow flexibility in aligning with the threads on the box. Drilling a 7/32 inch hole enlarged the slots which made installation much faster! See pictures for the original and a modified one side-by-side.Also, the outlet does fit tight especially if using "pro" outlets with the metal back strap. It was not hard pushing the outlet in at allWorked great. I used the 1/2 inch.

Easy and Safe Fix Extending Existing Electrical Boxes Through New Wall Coverings
My mobile home had some 1/2 dry wall installed over wall paneling. The existing electrical boxes were level, flush with the surface of the paneling and securely fastened, so I did not feel like ripping the wall apart and installing new boxes to provide a flush surface fit with the new wall. These box spacers took care of that problem while saving me a major headache, time, as well as a few dollars. With a single gang box, the fit with GFI plugs is a little tight. Using a file to slightly flatten the 90 degree angle along the top and bottom edges fixed that problem since the spacers are somewhat flexible. The openings in the spacers for the screws going into the existing electrical box were a little narrow for my application, making it a little difficult to get the screws lined up and started. Drilling these opening out with a 3/16 inch drill bit made installation much easier for me; however this might not be necessary in all cases. Standard electrical boxes use a #6x32 x 1" screws, these will need to be replaced with longer screws (1.5" in my case) that can be found on Amazon or just about any hardware or building supply store. Having an oscillating multi-function power tool is a must if any trimming of the wall covering is needed. Given my experience, it appears these spacers would work well with tile or other wall coverings. All the electrical boxes I put these spaces on provided a very secure installation for both plugs and switches with very little effort, and came out looking great. Highly recommend!

Good, simple product, wish it came with screws.
These proved to be a very cost-effective solution for extending electrical boxes. The only hassles was having to buy screws for them separately.

Very solid and secure solution for extending electrical boxes.
We are putting up 1" acoustic treatments in our home theater and I needed to extend each of the electrical boxes. These worked very well for the task (I used 2 1/2" extenders stacked with no problem). A couple of notes: the screws slots are very tight, but this makes for a very nice fit once you get the screw started. There were also a few cases where I had to cut one of the top or bottom supports to make a larger item (e.g. a fan controller, and an LED step light) fit into the extender. They were relatively easy to cut with just a utility knife.

just what I needed
Easier than cutting down a box and more stable than farting around with spacers. Worth the extra price for the convenience. Bought a selection of sizes so wish that they were color coded to make finding the right size easier. Also could use 3-gang and 4-gang sizes.edit: have to down grade my rating because decora outlets won't fit in the space. Too short. It interferes with the ground screw. I have to snip out the inner webs.

Just what I needed
Just what I needed, tapped an existing outlet to run power to a new outlet. As a result, the quick connect MC wire I used caused interference with the old outlet and I could not properly re-install everything. My options were to either purchase a deeper electrical box or a spaced similar to this one. I am glad I went went with a plastic spacer over a metal one.Since I went with this plastic one, I was able to cut the side of the spacer so I could install it while the wires were connected to the old outlet. This saved me a lot of time since I was dealing with very short existing wires. After installing the spacer, I used some electrical tape to reinforce the shape.

Cheap way to deal with space after wallboard
I have loads of tile and wall board spaces that create a difference between the boxes and the outlets. These are easy to install and give enough height as well safely to help cover the GFCI outlets fitting in the boxes, without having to replace the boxes while also covering the gap between box and outlet so no knofe or screwdriver can be poked beside the box easily.Perfect.
