Full of plot...and I mean FULL
Due to copy and paste, formatting has been lost.Real Mermaids Don't Hold Their Breath picked up right where Real Mermaids Don't Wear Toe Rings (what a mouthful of a name!) left off, which gave me a little bit of time to get back into the story, but it didn't really give me any time to get reacquainted with the characters. On the other hand, I don't have any confusion about what happened between books, (hint: nothing) because of the no-gaps-between-story-lines thing.Jade was still an awesome and true to life kind of character, but I really feel like she grew in this one, maybe matured? I really liked reading through her point of view, because her sense of humor is absolutely to die for and her inner monologue is absolutely awesome. It's like reading a commentary to a real life event, which was cool.I think that my only real problem with Real Mermaids Don't Hold Their Breath is that it's just a tad bit too action-packed. Don't get me wrong, I love action! But honestly, so many different things were happening in the plot at one time, and so many things that really shouldn't have happened kept happening...and AHH! I'd just better leave it at that. BUT the adding and adding to the plot was absolutely ridiculous! o_OAll in all, Real Mermaids Don't Hold Their Breath is a light and fluffy read that I would definitely recommend for younger teens, but I'm not so sure that every one will like it, considering my reaction to the plot. *sigh*

They are very reminiscent of Beverly Cleary in that the characters are very easily relatable, even with being 1/2 mermaid
These books are very quick reading for the average adult, because they are geared more for junior high/early high school aged readers. They are very reminiscent of Beverly Cleary in that the characters are very easily relatable, even with being 1/2 mermaid. The adolescent issues are very real. I found the entire series to be sweet and poignant while having some surprises and twists and turns along the way. I'd highly recommend them to anyone who loves mermaids and wants a bit of fun summer reading.

This is the best book ever! What more could you ask from a sequel that nobody knows about. I read it on about three days because I was hooked. Read it, buy it! Whoo hoo!!
Yup,a great book to finish off the first one,(real mermaids don't wear toe rings ). If you haven't read the first book you should buy it first. So many things happened in this book so I don't want to spoil it for you. I recommend this book for mermaid lovers and mostly girls.

Great teen read!
I chose this rating because it was very detailed, and easy to remember the characters. I hate it when books have so many characters, you can't keep up. I would recommend this book to teen girls with a taste of fishy romance, with a dash of suspense, and don't forget, a pinch of action!

My daughter loved this book
This was a great book for my mermaid-loving daughter. She felt this was one of the best mermaid books she has ever read (and she has read a lot). The girl in the book is a "regular" girl (except for the mermaid part) and very relatable. Fiona gives it a big thumbs up!

As entertaining as the first book.
Real Mermaids Hold Their Breath picks up almost straight after the first book ended. Its summer and Jade is serving ice-cream to the masses while trying to figure out where her mother is and how to get her home.Jade's narration is still as entertaining as before. She spends a lot of time panicking in her head which is just makes her more loveable. Cori and Jade have repaired their friendship, even with the big fin secret still hanging over them. Her dad remains reassuringly dad-like, I loved the Merlin 3000 storyline.Helene Boudreau has expanded on the mermaid mythology, introducing us to more characters and the mermaid council. This book has more big issues while the first one was very much focused on Jade.

She loved the story line and would definitely buy another book ...
Same as the review for the other book in the series. The book was on sale and I bought it for my daughter. She loved the story line and would definitely buy another book written by this author
