EasyEye Sunpentown SL-822 Energy Saving Floor Lamp (2-Tube), Gray

Was great for as long as it worked! We got it in June 2013 and it stopped working in Nov. 2015. We thought it was the bulb so we ordered new bulbs and after replacing bulb it still did not work!

I only gave this lamp 4 stars because mine is pale grey, not cream/white as stated. (I checked the box & couldn't see a color specified on it) Its not a big enough problem for me to want to return it. Neither my husband or I were able to push the shaft all the way to the line, or hear a click, when attaching it to the base. However, I have mine between the couch & a wall, so it is sturdy. The base is nice & heavy, & the part where the bulb is can swivel & be out of the way when not in use. The switch is at a handy height for me, & the light is perfect. Great value, & I would definitely buy it again!

My husband has cataracts, not bad enough to have surgery yet, but he needs extra light to read, and this lamp was perfect.It was well packed, a 'box inside a box.'The inner factory box opened to reveal the lamp parts well separated inside a partitioned styrofoam box.There were only 4 parts: the heavy base (and it is quite heavy so the lamp won't tip), the stem, the top fixture, and the light bulb.Installation took maybe 10 minutes tops, all you do is:Seat the bulb in the fixture,Connect the lower stem wire to the base wire via matching plugsSeat the stem in the base, a firm push made it snap in tightly. There is an audible snap when it's in right.Connect the top stem wire to the fixture wire, again matching plugs.Snap the fixture part onto the stem, again they audibly snap into place.Turn on the light. I did have to re-seat the bulb, evidently it was not tight enough the first time.After that all was well, and my husband is very very happy. He loves to read.I was concerned at first that the stem was rather lightweight and worried that it would bend, but after assembly it seems fine and I think it should hold up well.

Worked nicely. For a month, then died. Being an electronics engineer, I decided to see what was wrong. It has a power supply in the base that blew a (non-replaceable) fuse and vaporized two capacitors. Total junk.I'm going to rebuild the power supply, but clearly this isn't something the average buyer would (or should) do.Buy something else, unless you like electronics repair.

This is a pretty good light for reading and crafts. I have been using it for two years and it is holding up well. The only con is that it is not built as well as my OttLite floor lamp, but it is not a deal breaker by any means.

The lamp would not turn on. Apparently the on-off switch was broken. A tech from our building did his damnedest and couldn't get it to work, so we returned it. But the return process was easy and efficient!

If you are a reader, day or night, this lamp is required equipment beside your favorite chair or you bed. It's energy efficient and bulbs are readily available on the web. If you are looking for a Christmas gift for a person who reads...look no further.
