Ruth writes honestly of her own life.
I have known Ruth Angela for more than 30 years, as we taught English at the same college in Hawaii and became friends as she helped me through a serious illness. Her Guru’s Gift matches all that I know of her. Over the years, she ‘s told me part of her story and I’ve read drafts of this book. I am amazed at how Ruth has weaved all of her experiences together and described them so clearly for her readers. I am in awe of her journey and her ability to express it in words. Sharing her experiences with her readers is the real gift. As I read Ruth’s story, I cannot help but reflect on my own. She has done a marvelous job of writing so that reading The Guru’s Gift is not like reading one woman’s diary, but it is like reading something that allows the reader to reflect on their own experiences and the meaning of their own life journey.

Excellent Insights
This is a meticulously researched and drafted chronology of the author's extended awakening process. Many aspects are dealt with. These include:- an exhaustive account of her roller-coaster emotional journey and, more specifically, of how her personal relationships and self-identity were impacted by the upward passage of the energy- intuitive and objective analyses on what forces were at work in laying the foundations of her spiritual experience, including past life insights and early childhood influencesFor its ease of reading, its thoroughness and its numerous cross-references, this book has a richness and depth not dissimilar to that of Bonnie Greenwell's "Energies of Transformation" albeit that its primary focus is on the unique experiences of the author. In summary, congratulations on a brilliant book - this is another treasure for my Kundalini library!!

Re:The Guru's Gift
Ruth is an excellent writer and I love how she included so many references to back up her experiences. I have read one of Gopi Krishna's books on his experiences with Kundalini awakening, so I know how extreme it can be. I thoroughly enjoyed her book and recommend it to all spirits on the journey towards awakening.

Written by somebody who actually lives Kundalini
I do not have read this book yet beyond what has been made publicly available, I admit. But I know Ruth Angela via a Kundalini support network since almost a year and I can vouch she is the real thing and has a first-hand understanding of what Kundalini is about, and that she researched the subject deeply with a interdenominational approach, albeit with a Siddha Yoga background. I have been consistently amazed by her width and depth of knowledge on this subject. That's why I am confident I can in any case give a five star review to her work, which summarizes the result of twenty years of research and reflection! It's a book recommended for people experiencing spontaneous kundalini awakening, along W. Bodri's The Little Book of Hercules (also written by somebody who actually knows what he is talking about but with a Buddhist/Taoist background). Both books offer complementary point of view on this subject, and reading them both may actually offer enough insight to get through the process with success, so that you will spare paying expensive Kundalini Yoga courses which bring little. Also, allow me to stress it again: it has been written by someone who actually experience Kundalini, not merely heard or read about it - too much material about the subject is being published without this experiential knowledge, and this book is a welcome exception.

I really LOVED this book
I really LOVED this book. The author is an INCREDIBLE individual, so much so, that I would very much like to meet her some day. In this book, the author has told the most WONDERFUL tale, to WILD to have made it up. I have so many questions, I do not know where to begin. It is seemingly a "science-fiction novel" to the left brain. Yet MOST science fiction novels are based upon a deeper truth that points us in a mind-opening direction. A direction that allows the reader to vicariously experience what she has gone through. This book is well worth reading, but ONLY if your ready for your left brain be "blown away"... A STANDING OVATION TO RUTH ANGELA FOR WRITING THS BOOK!!!

Another birth reading guaranteed
Ruth Angela's book was long overdue to those that were considered experts to read. She wins that category as the very best story experienced personally by her. I have had a Kundalini awakening and when I read her book it was not paper in a book. It was as if you had the experience of the freedom of the right brain. It takes the left brain and puts it in its proper place, a limited cultural myth that has controlled people for centuries. It tosses away all limitations. Her heart is an opener and so will anyone's heart who reads her book. You will go through changes for the better. There is laughter, tears and a big heart that overwhelms you and it is the best love story that is not arrived at easily. The Kundalini opening is a major change and is a death and rebirth while in your present body. If you are wanting changes read it. If you are afraid of changes read it.

Enjoyable and informative
I must admit I enjoyed the first half of the book when Ruth was telling her story and experiences, more than the second half which I found quite intense albeit full of information from various gurus. A good read however.
