Highly recommended for creative counselors-in-training!
I am currently getting my Master's degree and I am trying to figure out my theoretical orientation, so my friend recommended this book to me. This book has been TREMENDOUSLY helpful. It clearly explains the major concepts of Gestalt therapy, different experiments, how to conceptualize clients, etc. This was my first semester seeing actual clients (in practicum), so I carried this book with me everywhere I went. I now have a solid foundation in Gestalt after consulting with this text. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in learning more about Gestalt, especially counselors-in-training who are still trying to figure out their theoretical orientations and think they may have a desire for Gestalt therapy.

Very Usable
Great book for first time 'Gestalters.' Goes all the way from setting up your office to examples of sessions and real life self examination exercises. A little short on detailed theory, but an excellent referred reading list. It's a good book for all levels of Gestalt practice. Can be used by beginners as a great primer for beginning the wonderful world of Gestalt therapy. Seasoned practitioners get a look at the changes in definitions and trends in the field. Long time 'Gestalters' may find it a little light and not 'pure' as many other styles are integrated in the therapy process.

Finding it hard to put it down!
I ordered this book 2 days ago, it arrived yesterday and I am finding it hard to put it down! WOW ... what a brilliant book, I feel I need to put it down to 'soak in' the information, I do however feel this book I will come back to time and time again.. It gives great insight into Gestalt therapy, which I have briefly touched on in Level 3 Counselling skills and I can't wait for some more free time to delve back in :-) I would highly recommend this book...

This book is so well organised and thought through. It manages to get to the heart of Gestalt processes with excellent examples as well as providing guidance for how to structure sessions. For any therapists wondering if this is the book to help with incorporating Gestalt into their practice, do not hesitate, buy it now.
