it actually works... I even dilute it with some water in another spray bottle. I do not want the coat to become sticky so the added water helps it just fine. I use it for grooming the entire coat by misting the areas lightly. use more on a knot. it works! I also like the fact that there is not heavy intense smell. not really much smell at all which is great!

Did not detangle my Persian Cat's fur as much as I wanted it to, and the cat HATES the high-pitched spray sound that any spray bottle makes... most cats seem to hate that sound. Worked for very tiny knots, but any type of mat it had trouble with. My cats coat was maybe a small amount less static-y but in order to get it to that your cat has to be sprayed down to an almost damp level... I won't order it again, but it might work better for short-haired cats.

I have 2 beautiful Havanese dogs with long hair and this is the BEST Detangler and Anti-Static Spray I have tried! My dogs are tangle-free and that's not easy with all the hair they have! They are very used to being sprayed, brushed and combed but this product makes it so much easier to get the tangles out before they turn into mats! The most important thing you can do to prevent mats is to brush regularly so that any small tangles get removed and never get the chance to form into mats. It is essential to brush and comb right down to the skin which is where many tangles form. Never brush a dry coat or the hairs will break! Also keep your dog clean. Dirty coats will mat more easily.This has a nice clean smell, a very light melon scent that I can barely smell at all. The ingredients are all natural: Coconut/Palm Conditioner, Benzoin Tree Gum Preservative, Panthenol, Water, Melon Fragrance. Many professional grooming salons use these products and I especially recommend this to anyone with a long-haired breed of dog because you will need it. Just meh. Leaves a very sweet smell on fur. Doesn't do much for shine on my mostly black curly havanese. I prefer the eqyss premiere detangler better even though it smells fruity both of them don't leave a strong after scent.

I have a black English Cocker Spaniel who was a show dog until we moved to Montana last year. I've somehow managed to keep some semblance of his show coat, but with living in a dry climate now, I've had a terrible time keeping the mats at a minimum and the static at bay. I've just used the Coat Handler for the first time and I must say, I am VERY impressed! I bathed, rinsed and then sprayed Coat Handler very generously throughout his wet coat, worked it in with my fingers, then combed him out. Most of the mats pretty much just slid right out and only a couple had to be worked on a bit. I then blew him out. It's been 2 days and there is absolutely no flyaway hair, no new snags, snarls or mats! I'm looking forward to seeing this product help get Zippy's coat back to being super shiny, smooth and flowing! Hope to do a follow-up review at 90 days!

Seems to work at helping control static and does help detangle. I have 3 long haired cats that got pretty staticky this winter. As a result, they developed mats quickly. This helped me brush them. Light fresh scent. The cats don't like being sprayed, but it works on a brush as well.

I have a Yorkie in long coat and I understand hers' may be harder to manage than the average dogs' coat; however this didn't even come close to detangling her hair, and I brush her everyday.

I was really bummed when I learned that Rio Vista went out of business and was no longer making their canine shine spray. So I took a chance on this product and yay! It is pretty good. Detangles and does have anti static properties, just ad advertised. We have a great pyrenees and this spray is wonderful to keep his coat brushed and in condition without much bathing or effort. The odor is fine. Dont know if it is as good as Rio Vista but it is pretty comparable I'd say.

I have a long haired silky breed and tangles and knots removed fairly effortlessly. I also used it as a spritz and it acted like an anti static with shine. Will definitely never run out of this.

I bought the first bottle in July and it works wonderfully. Helps with matts and so far, is working as an anti static as well. This winter will tell if it really does the job once we really start heating the house. Doesn't leave a buildup and leaves the coat soft.
