Fabulous Product!
I considered a French press for some time, comparing different ones on the market. I wanted to replace our Krups espresso machine and decided on this one. I have to say, I've never had a better tasting coffee, and my husband agrees. This little gem is easy to use and a snap to clean, as long as you clean it immediately after use. The carafe is glass (carefully clean as it is thin) and all the pressing components that submerge into the coffee are metal, which easily come apart for a thorough cleaning. No concerns of mold growth in hard to clean areas here. The top is plastic, despite the metal appearance, but it cleans up nicely. Hopefully, this will stand the test of time aesthetically. As for the coffee, it comes out smooth and tasty, no bitterness what-so-ever when brewed for the recommended 2-3 minutes. We do use water that has been filtered using Kishu Binchotan Water Purifier Charcoal, also available on Amazon.I've used this French press for my tea too and it's works beautifully. No bits of my loose tea in the bottom of my cup anymore due to the fine mesh disc that is molded to slide down the sides preventing little pieces from slipping through. I also make my own coconut milk, and plan to test out it's ability to strain the pulp from the milk. I am very please with my purchase.

Almost 5 stars
***Update: The fact that the screen doesn't screw on straight has become a bigger problem. You can screw it on and think the threads have caught but the minute it goes into the carafe it falls apart. This has become such a pain that I am shopping around for a new one, it's not worth the hassle.Original: I use this French Press daily for my coffee or tea. I love that I can brew both things in here and that the plunger doesn't go all the way to the bottom so that my tea leaves do not get crushed when I brew my tea. The only problem I have with the French press, and hence the 4 star review, is that after a while the mess screen assembly at the bottom of the plunger never screws on straight anymore. I have tried to screw it and unscrew it and fiddle around with it a it but the only way for the threads to catch on the screen mesh assembly is if it's at a little angle. This is not a huge inconvenience and the press is still usable but it makes it a bit of a pain to reassembly it after cleaning and when I put on the lid I have to angle the plunger a bit. Overall it's a very sturdy press there is just this one inconvenience about it.

We Like Our Old Method Better
It's difficult for me to assign a number of stars. The quality of this product is excellent. It makes perfect French press coffee. But as a coffee devotee, I found our previous method makes better coffee to our taste. And we've returned to our old method: the gold permanent filter in a holder. The press coffee has a little bitter aftertaste, and seems thin. After grinding our own coffee with a Krups non-burr grinder (the burr grinders fail all the time), the filter might let a little more of the powder resulting from grinding go into the mug, but the flavor is definitely richer, with no bitterness. I just wanted to try the press not to lose out on something better, but the press now resides on a back shelf.

Great coffee press!
Received this in time for our daughter to gift this to my husband. It replaces an old one which was getting tired. This new one is great! The double screen mesh does a great job keeping the grinds on the bottom. The old one allowed a lot of fine grinds through; okay for others but I found them unappetizing. The plunger pushes through smoothly and the knob on top is really secure. Our old one had a screwed on or soldered plastic knob which suddenly pulled off one day and made it really inconvenient to pull up the plunger. I hated to give up our automatic espresso machine but after putting up with poor quality espresso, major waste of coffee due to electronic issues, finicky performance, this simple press is reliable and quick. Get yourself one; you won't regret it!Update: while it makes good coffee, the clean up is a bit of a pain. This one catches so many grinds between the mesh and the metal bottom of the plunger. You have to unscrew it completely apart to clean it thoroughly. My last one fit tighter, almost no grounds got caught. Still makes a good cup of coffee!

Fragile Glass Carafe
After only a month of use, the glass carafe broke. Just this morning while cleaning out the used coffee grounds, I flipped it over and tapped the bottom of the carafe with my fingers, and the bottom broke out in one solid circle. When I first received the French Press, my first impression was how thin and fragile the glass on the carafe looked. Now my suspicions have been validated. Enough glass for me, I'm going to stainless steal.

It does the job.
It's okay, does the job.I use it for herbal tea that I mix, and I wanted to be able to see the color of the tea and to have something that was durable and pleasing to look at.So far my one problem with it is that some area's where stainless steel overlaps are sharp, I use gloves when I wash dishes, so you have to watch out or you can cut yourself, and I have to keep remind everyone to be careful. The other problem, it stands crooked to one side and for such expensive item it is disappointing.I should have returned it but my kids had already turned the box into a bus for their little figurines.

This is a great French Press for a good price
This is a great French Press for a good price. There is no need to spend $30.00 or more on a other coffee presses that do the same thing as this one for around $15/$20 dollars. You have never had Smooth coffee till you had it through a French Press. Some of the best coffee I have ever had!!! If you are unsure how to use it Youtube has some great tutorial videos on step by step how to use/make coffee with it. I am also a tea drinker and it works well with lose leaf teas. Makes enough for about 2 large cups. If you are like me it is perfect size and i drink the hole pout to myself. Comes with extra mesh strainers.
